England & it’s not even close. Wrong ‘Un 🙄 When you’ve seen a play off final win on pens, Browner 90+2, Vale/Rochdale (A), Anderson 85th min & everything else in between you’ve basically peaked at club level. Not to mention 89/90 season for those a touch older than myself. We havent exactly been loaded with success but when we have our moments, we max it out!

Thankfully Rovers success and England success are not mutually exclusive. So we can dream of both events occurring simultaneously... hang on.. unless someone is suggesting a correlation between Rovers' promotion in 1990 and then England going out of the WC on penalties a few months later??! :-o

England & it’s not even close. I would love to see England win in my life time. But if Rovers go up, it will have a bigger impact. More money for the club, playing better sides at better ground and we will attract better players etc. If England win, apart from having a good celebration, it won't make much difference after a few days.

England only win anything under a Labour government. 😉

Stuff the country. Imagine the celebration on here if the winning goal was scored by a 82 player. Have no interest in cheering or supporting players from other teams especially pl ones

England World Cup win or 82ers relegation? Tough one

As much as I'd enjoy an England tournament win on the box, the fans are an embarrassment, especially away from home. Stopped going to England games after being in pubs full of idiots singing idiots songs all the time. I was there for Gazza's goal against Scotland in Euro 96. That'll do me.

Call me greedy but when in my lifetime have we had much success, so I want both!
So England for Euro, WC, Home Championship, Inter toto malarkey, and Rovers for promotion, Mickey Mouse, League Cup and FA cup.
Alternatively, I'd settle for the youth/ reserves winning the Gloucestershire Cup, or the Fry's sixes!

Sammy Igoe, beating City to go up to the Second Tier, getting to Wembley for the first time in the club’s history at Notts County… I went to the last Euros held in Germany back in 1988. England were shockingly bad, and 90% of the fans thought they were reincarnations of Winston Churchill. Glad I inter railed between games as it was absolutely grim at them.

Not to forget 19 April 1974 away at Southend!
Nil nil draw but promotion guaranteed before the last game of the season at home to Brighton.
Not many of us there ( about 1000?) as it was a Friday night and no official transport due to special trains earlier in the season being wrecked.

After being in lower league football and not playing a local derby for decades getting promoted to the Championship would take some beating, the chances we'd achieve that in front of thousands of Gasheads, whereas if England won the WC we'd probably be watching at home or in a pub with just a few England fans. There's really no comparison unless you were one of the lucky few to be at the WC final.
