In my lifetime , as England never qualified for a World Cup until 1982, my childhood was spent supporting Scotland at ‘74 & ‘78 WC’s. Filling in the wall charts, watching the games, I even had a tartan scarf.

But for Zaire capitulating ON PURPOSE to Yugoslavia, we would have won the World Cup 😎 Unbeaten and out way before the other lot did it. 🏴

Shame about what's happened to quality Scottish players. For the size of population (5 million) they must have had more world class or at least top level internationals than any other comparable country.

In my lifetime (1964 until...), you're right. There have been so many exceptional Jockanese players, especially from the 1960s until the late 80s. Obviously there have been many more since and indeed now, but those 74 and 78 WC squads 💙🏴

🏴☠️ first, 🏴 second. One my of best ever England away days was at Hampden when Scholes scored a double in our 2-0 win, nothing better than beating the sweaties. I’d rather us beat this mob over any of the home nations, proper joy when we beat them.

The recent friendly was my first Hampden experience, the night before and day of the game in Glasgow was superb with no bother at all. But once we stepped off the footie special that took us to the ground, it was pure poison in the air. Never known a toxic atmosphere like it (on the international stage) loved it😄😄

We have a weak government, when the Covid was rampant and they all came down and took over Trafalgar Square, they should be stopped them at the arrivals and sent them straight back. I’ve done Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan away, incredible trips and flying into Istanbul for a night on one of them as no direct flight. Last flight out of Luton at 2am, shut all the bars to stop us drinking, our chartered plane raided duty free, it’s the only time I’ve felt really anxious and comfortable on a flight, was relieved when we landed, all different sides, drinking, literally no escape route! Chased around Amsterdam when just having a nice time, tear gassed in Paris, I don’t know why but horrible experience. Flight out to Cologne in June, a night there and look around, free train then to Frankfurt for the game and back home. We’ve just then applied for the Semi’s and Final which we will get. Some of the best football days of my life, we have a fan called Steve who I think lives in Woking, he’s a massive England fan and Gashead. I respect Rovers fans putting us first, unless you’ve watched England away which beats any Rovers away day, you just won’t get it. Made some great people and friends as well from different clubs, random you want to stick near a 💩 head in Azerbaijan and a Millwall fan because it’s safety in numbers!

I mean imagine seeing England lift the World Cup in New York in the final, I find it hard to believe Rovers doing anything bar winning a major trophy for me would top this, first time since 66?!
Respect to all bar Scotland, even the Welsh know not to bite the hand that feeds them😂 🎣

Mmm that's a tough question giving rise to an interesting debate! When i ask myself which means more to me all i can say is that, through all their highs and lows i have never given up on Rovers and never will ,from the greatest 'single moment' (Sammy at Wembley imho) to the most important ( PENS v Grimsby imho) right down to the worst of feelings( National league relegation) , I did however give up on England for a while, being of an age meaning i was able to enjoy the thrill of winning the World cup followed by the despair and shattering disappointment of 1970 followed by more of the same when a so called 'clown' of a Polish goalkeeper prevented us from qualifying in 1974, there were plenty of highs and lows back then , it was not then when i gave up on them though, it was during the so called 'golden age' when a succession of managers failed to integrate a collection of very gifted players into a 'team', players from certain clubs were frightened to upset their fans by being seen to be working in harmony with rival club players, I have 'come 'back to England because for all his perceived faults, Southgate has rid the England set up of such negativity although that mentality still exists on the terraces ., in conclusion then it has to be Rovers, their fortunes/misfortunes on a match by match basis do have a disproportionate affect on my mood BUT not so much as years gone by thankfully,! As for England ,well i can watch them with a more laid back attitude, wanting them to do well and win but not with the same depth of joy or despair, up the Rovers!

The Football League Trophy is our only realistic chance of winning something and we've entered more than 40 times and still haven't won it. To make things worse, City have won it the most times.

Your part about “unless you’ve watched England away” is nail on the head. It is levels above & absolutely nothing like it. As you say I’ve made some friends for life through my England travels, have met some truly great people and the away trips can never come around quick enough. Euros, World Cup or nations league, tournaments or qualifiers.

Since 1962 it has always been Rovers for me. Have been England away and some of the fans disgust me with their Nationalistic behaviour. Rovers are my club the one I chose to support. Nowadys if England were playing in my back garden. I would shut the curtains.

Interesting how we all see it, England is my escape from watching fairly terrible football to seeing world class players do their thing. Specifically seeing Jude Bellingham with a ball at his feet in a competitive match with your own eyes, is a treat I hope every football supporter gets to experience one day. Just, incredible.

I have zero interest in international football. Would rather watch Rovers beat any team in any competition than watch England play any match.
