SteveK Jed Ward is 5ft 10 Matt Cox is 6ft Maybe we should super glue them together to make a super keeper? From the little I’ve seen of Ward he’s impressed me. Can’t be easy being thrown in behind a calamity of a defensive unit Out of all the defenders we have on the books, who would you keep? Possibly only Taylor. Let’s hope the centre back Matt Taylor can identify some steel in the summer, and preferably players that can last more than 20 minutes before hobbling off UTG

5Ft 10 sounds about right and is that tall enough for a League keeper? I say again how many League keepers are under 6feet tall?

Another decent game for Ward. Didn’t have much to do but dealt with the crosses. saved the one on target and dealt with some stuff out of his box he had to. Better than Cox already for me.

Somebody corrected me with 5ft 10 which IMO is too short to be a successful League 1 keeper or even tougher in League 2. So i asked again how many League keepers in any division are 5ft 10 or under. I will be very surprised if he manages to play a full season in the football league.

Jed Ward is anything between 5’8”to 6’ 4”on google. In my opinion he is at least 6’ and possibly 6’2”and definately not 5’10”. How do I know that, I’m 5’10” and passed him outside the ground a couple of months ago and he was definately taller than me!

5ft 10in? The GK Tommy Simkin pictured here at England U20 training next to Ward is 6ft 2in. There is no way Ward is 5ft 10in, but then surely that is obvious to 99.9% of the fanbase. But gaschat facts are gaschat facts I suppose.

Of course he is 6FT plus, and taller than Cox.

5 foot 10 inches what a joke!!! I have know Jed for a long time and seen he play since under 11's. He was not the tallest growing up but the club knew he would always grow as you just need to look at his Parents who are well over 6 foot themselves. Jed is 6' 2" and is now working hard on his physicality and i'm sure he will grow to be an excellent keeper. It is difficult being a young Keeper but like all keepers they do make mistakes and it is normally highlighted as they are the last line of defence. There are some moaning already on here but look at David DeGea and Loris Karius, both excellent keepers but hounded by mistakes which when talked about and more pressure put on, made it harder for them and bought out more mistakes! Lets encourage him and yes he is bound to make the odd mistake all keepers do, but lets help him in his journey and not make it harder than it is already going to be! #oneofourown #utg #letsallbepositive

Shrewsbury's keeper Marosi is out of contract in the summer and one id go for as competition for Jed if wages were right. He always looks good when ive seen him and a few of their fans think he is one of the best in league 1

It's a difficult balancing act with regard to Ward, the fact we've given him a long term contract suggests we think he'll develop either into our No1, as a saleable asset or potentially both. The issue as I see it is whether we think he's our No1 for next season, if not then personally I'd rather see him out on a season long loan. He needs the experience of playing regular football, if he plays the last 6 ganes I think that will be something like 19 consecutive appearances the last thing I think he needs at this stage is to go back to being a bunch warmer
