Recall not long after their demise from the Prem they came to the Mem and were less than complimentary on their first visit. One of their fans said ,'It's like being in Chernobyl'. Best not to ask him a description of Greater Manchester!.

Hope you don't mind if I have a laugh at that. We usually get "breeze block palace in a shopping mall" or "it's not in Bolton". At least you didn't have to suffer the indignity of having half of one end turned into a crap supermarket (Normid) as we did in the final years of Burnden Park.

If it's good enough for Gandalf, it's good enough for me. TBH I like Brizzle - went there a lot when one of my lads was living in the student bit near Cotham not too far from your ground and once did a radio broadcast from the BBC in Clifton.

I see we have reduced capacity again.the new wheelchair access above the family area has meant about 5 rows of terrace has been removed to put in a platform. Although it is good to see wheelchair access, surely they could have instigated this without the need to remove any terrace area capacity. A decent area for wheelchair users has been long overdue. The area they have converted is close to the entrance, and fairly easily accessible by wheelchair, it's not as though that terracing is packed out every week, so I think it was a sensible decision all round.

🤣🤣 that’s mental shame I never got to Burnden looks cracking. I’ll genuinely be surprised if you don’t hammer us Saturday, you’ve looked very good recently when you’ve been on the telly. Majority of you guys will have a slight improvement on facilities as we’ve finally knocked off ( a temporary)! reasonably ok stand down that end. Enjoy the visit if you are coming. Aaron gets a good ovation from me. Ps you aren’t thogdad or thogden are you? 😜 To be fair thogdad was fantastic banter at your place fair dos to him

There might be a bit of a breeze Saturday - hope it doesn’t stop the beautiful free flowing football we’ve been playing in the past few months

All fingers and toes crossed that we don't get a hammering. With flip flops suncream and passports at the ready I'm not sure we have the fight left in us, apart from Chris Martin, who's made it clear he fights in every game.
Still, it's the time of the year when nerves kick in, form goes out of the window, and anything can happen.

🤣🤣 that’s mental shame I never got to Burnden looks cracking. Amazing ground full of memories for me. FWIW on top of the half stand (The Embankment) on the picture was a railway line and occasionally the trains would park up to watch the game. Capacity 70k and full in the glory years but reduced over time. 33 died in the 1946 Burnden disaster which we commemorate every year.I’ll genuinely be surprised if you don’t hammer us Saturday, you’ve looked very good recently when you’ve been on the telly. We blow hot and cold - a joy to watch when we're on it, frustrating as hell when we're not. We have to win to keep any hope of automatics alive, but anything else should focus minds on the playoffs which I for one am expecting.Majority of you guys will have a slight improvement on facilities as we’ve finally knocked off ( a temporary)! reasonably ok stand down that end. Excellent work. Enjoy the visit if you are coming. Can't so it's iFollow for me.Aaron gets a good ovation from me. Aren't you thinking of Hillsborough? But yes, the game carried on after a stoppage. Wiki does a decent job of summarising it....https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burnden_Park_disaster
Crowd estimated at £85k
"The Railway End became over capacity and closely packed so, at 2:40 pm, it was decided to close the turnstiles. However, that did not stop more people entering the ground, with spectators climbing in from the railway, clambering over the closed turnstiles and, when a locked gate was opened, entering through it. Such was the pressure from the Railway End, that many fans were pushed inexorably along the side of the pitch, around the far end and, eventually, right out of the ground, ending up in the car park.
Shortly after the game started, the crowd began spilling onto the pitch, so the game was temporarily stopped to clear the pitch. However, two barriers then collapsed and the crowd behind them fell forward, crushing those underneath. The game was restarted but was quickly halted again when a Bolton Borough Police officer came onto the pitch to speak to the referee, George Dutton, to inform him there had been a fatality. The referee called together the two captains, Bolton's Harry Hubbick and Stoke's Neil Franklin, to inform them of the problem, and the players left the pitch
The dead and injured were taken from the Railway End terrace, with those who had died laid along the touchline and covered in coats. A little under half an hour after the players had left the pitch, the game was restarted, with a new sawdust-lined touchline separating the players from the corpses. At the end of the first-half, the players immediately changed ends and started the second half. Stanley Matthews was on the Stoke team, and said later that he was sickened that the game was allowed to continue."
The disaster sparked the first Public Enquiry/Report into crowd safety. It's as though they never bothered about it before when you think back to the estimated 300k in attendance at the White Horse FA Cup final which certainly raised the question.

I just recall seeing black and white footage of a disaster so knew it wasn’t Hillsborough which I watched unfold as a kid. I thought it was Bolton but there was also one at Ibrox but I’m sure that was after a game?

Unless our midfield can limit the play making skills of Josh Sheehan we will struggle in this fixture.
After two injury hit seasons with BWFC he is now firing on all cylinders.
He plays every game now and has been the POTM for their last THREE games.
If Stuart Sinclair was playing for us now he would have been the ideal foil. Fans may recall his tireless display for us when he thwarted a similar style of player, Bradley Dack.
Are any of our current players capable of shutting JS out for 100 minutes?
