Without that season we’d have missed out on seeing Gas legends like Adam Cunnington, Bradley Goldberg and Anthony Wall gracing the Mem I strangely enjoyed the conference season even with that footballing talent you’ve mentioned. However the relief when manse slotted that pen in my opinion is & will remain the most important moment in gas history. That Manse moment nearly killed me.If he missed I'd be phoning the Samaritans and if he scored I'd be running down Stafford High Street naked.Manse runs up and my wife says,'Could you order Mum some name labels now she's in a Care Home and if you order more than 50 it's cheaper'.Manse scores and I said ' You can have 5 million ....... labels.'No need for that ' she said. No soul that was the trouble but such a moment was totally lost on my beloved.I cried.

Can only say I really enjoyed it and have fond memories. Especially Woking - luckily decided not to have another pint and get into the ground. Shortly after we got in the gates were locked as the ground was full.

This is an interesting topic. I think it goes back to what you enjoy most about watching football? For me it is the passion, the battle, you could really get behind the players as you can see the effort. Personally the lower down the football pyramid the more enjoyable watching football is, especially kids football they really try their hearts out! The football might not be the best, but it's almost like stepping back to the time when football was brilliant to watch. I often put re runs of the big match on for my boys to show them how great the game used to be. I find the modern game largely boring to watch, mostly dull stuff, even worse when your team is playing badly. Honestly speaking, without Rovers I doubt I'd ever watch another professional game again. I've also played hundreds of games to a good standard in both Bristol and Somerset but find myself liking the game less and less, it's not the same sport as it was. So the answer for me is yes, I really did enjoy the conference season, probably up there with the best after following the gas for the best part of 45 years and I expect if you ask any of the supporters of other sides that went down and came back up they would probably say the same. Had we not come straight back up, not sure how I would of felt then!?

Bristol Rovers should never have dropped out of the Football League, it's a stain on the history of our club. When the club had been in danger of being relegated earlier in the century the board moved to prevent it. The complacency of the regime who were obsessed with beating Sainsburys was breath taking "we didn't plan for relegation" said the director of finance.... Kind regards John Malyckyj Some of my favourite things are stained and I'm in no hurry to clean or replace them - stains remind us of our past and what we might have gone through to get where we are now.

I loved that season. I went to more away games that year than during any other. I think it brought us all back to earth and was probably the reset the club needed. We are still sh*t mind.

Sometimes we all need a kick up the arse and we got one.
DC was the man, lead the charge and railed the whole club.
Never forget his interview with 20mana week after we were relegated. The next season he pretty much delivered the whole vision.

That play off final was the most nerve racking game of football I have ever witnessed. It was absolutely horrific (until the winning penalty) when half the celebrations were just relief! There was so much riding on that one game I dread to think where we would be now if we didn’t win that. Having said that, I completely lost my voice which was interesting trying to check into my flight back the following morning!

Now that it’s well and truly in the rear view can anybody else look back on this season and smile? It was the year I felt like I got my Rovers back. I enjoyed visiting new grounds. I enjoyed actually winning some games and having something to play for. Looking back most of the squad were proper likeable people too. DC lead locks, Mildenhall, Harrison, Monkhouse, Gaffney, Lines, Snake (at the time) and Blissett. We all formed bonds with this team. People got the squad tattooed on them. And of course Puddymania was sweeping the terraces with renditions of “I wanna dance with Will Puddy”. I have to admit I love everything about that season apart from the Wembley final which was boring and tense. Can anyone else just admit they’re no longer embarrassed and actually enjoyed being in the conference? Gaffney wasn't part of the conference promotion side he came the following season from Cambridge
