Thing is about Rossiter is, he plays on the front foot, he wins the ball and plays it forward quickly. Conteh hasn't quite got that in his game yet. We definitely lost our forward momentum when Rossiter went off. You can also see Rossiter constantly talking, organising and encouraging, his influence in massive. I'm sure Conteh will come good but It's quite frustrating watching him play sometimes. Tackles and hussles well but as soon as he gets the ball the the play slows down or goes backwards. Needs more drive to push forward at pace He does pass the ball forward as well, he played one good forward ball to the left wing, from the middle of the park. But more often than not, he will look for the easy pass. Not every player is going to be an attacking threat though. At times every team needs a player, who will win the ball back and keep it simple. He is still young and learning, this is his first season in the football league and first few months in League 1. So hopefully he can add to his game. If he learns to drive with the ball and becomes more of an attacking threat, he will be too good for this level!

Can't say it was the best game I have ever seen, but I thought we deserved the win. Good to see our two best players this season in Evans and Thomas create the goal for our top scorer, without whom we would have been screwed this season.
I thought Rossiter played pretty well considering he has been out for so long. If he plays in say half of the games next season I hope we keep him (is he under contract?) and manage his time properly if we have room in the playing budget. If we were 1-0 up or 1-1 and under the cosh with ten minutes to go he would be a good player to bring on to shore things up a bit. Another old-timer, Sinclair, did well last night too, again I hope he stays.

I reckon Ngolo Kante or Claude Makelele would have had stick for not offering enough going forward if they they had played for Rovers ๐

So will be dependent on others being free to receive. It's, in my opinion, a good trait to have. He has shown he can travel with the ball if their is space. If he was perfect then would be higher up the leagues.

I just think he's Been ok. He breaks up play fine , is always available in the DCM role to receive the ball and plays it sideways or backwards ok. Rossiter last night showed him what a top quality DCM can do for a team. Its like chalk and cheese watching them both play. Hopefully conteh can learn loads from rossiter and Improve next season. I will say though I thought that was the best I've seen conteh last night. He drove forwards at times which he doesn't usually do. A couple of times He sort of started , got hesitant and slowed down looking for the easy option then seemed to think hang on I can do this and carried on forward. Theres definitely a player in there and I do think he will develop into a very good dcm.

Very good first half. Played some nice football and really should have been ahead at the break.
We seemed to run out of ideas a bit in the second half. I don't think the substitutions helped. However, quality move for the goal to bag a deserved 3 points.
Still need to work on defending set pieces though. Could easily have conceded 2 and lost a game we were in complete control of.
Rossiter has made a big difference. Give him a 1 year deal on a very low basic wage, but include a big appearance bonus that would make him one of our better paid players when fit and available.

Must admit to being very underwhelmed in the build up to this match and the match itself, been a Rovers supporter for 7 decades and their fortunes or otherwise have always been an influence on my state of mind, for some reason that influence has never been as low as it is now! anyway glad we won but have to say the D/C win gave me more of a boost than the Rovers win, very odd but i stress the 'D/C win as opposed to Cheltenham! The issue is that we rarely have a boring end to the season we're either fighting against relegation or trying to get promoted back to L1, just being safe in L1 is a bit of an oddity! Think you are right Topper( some members may find that a bit of a novelty!!) always thought it would be nice to have a comfortable mid table season with no stress at the end but i have to say it's very boring! I can just imagine the emotions that Cheltenham and Lincoln fans went through last night before final whistle and what was for them fantastic wins!

Nice to see the thread praising the Ref (Middleton) for a change. Iโd almost forgotten that a game can happen without the ref making it about him and that he doesnโt have to wave cards about to exercise real control.
