Just got back..
Lovely eve on the malecon glos road where the drinks in the restaurant is cheaper than the pub!? At least you can pay cash though.... and have a choice.
Anyhoos, onto something far less important..
As 0-0s were going, this one was heading in a decent direction until m o m LT decided to do something special again, like make another run. His precision passing and breaking runs is a gem... he's also laid on more balls than my ex. Definitely worthy of accolades here.
And, Bags until substitution... don't know why? I thought he was our best defender.
Scotty again looking dangerous.
Yep we played some pretty stiff until the penalty area...but we're getting around this and dominating some teams in final third.
Really liked Luca tonight and Vale. Even Evans passed one decent ball...
I think we possessed better technical abilities than Cambridge who were well organised, physical and fast....they looked dangerous from set pieces and counter....yep they're a good strong architect 3rd division outfit.
Nice for CM to continue to score. The pen award was soft, and a joke shot really, we're obviously in this zone where can't define a penalty taker atm. Good job we're not off to Euros I guess.
A good win, I suppose, MT .... Now we move on to Peterborough and jch love in. What could possibly go wrong...?

It's a funny game. I thought Ward had a good game, Hoole struggled and Rossiter was desperate for HT after about 15 minutes. I agree about Evans and Thomas who was definitely MOTM Thing is about Rossiter is, he plays on the front foot, he wins the ball and plays it forward quickly. Conteh hasn't quite got that in his game yet. We definitely lost our forward momentum when Rossiter went off. You can also see Rossiter constantly talking, organising and encouraging, his influence in massive. If fit Captain material, he didn’t stop talking in that First Half, encouraging people, and having the ability to play quick neat accurate balls.

Crikes. Monk thought they deserved the win. I don't think there's a single outfield player in side that "won" their battle. We totally outclassed them.
Yes, we were still a bit uncomfortable under set pieces but beyond that it was as dominate as 1 nil usually gets. Relieved we never appointed Monk.

Everyone put a shift in, some neat passing, Rossiter in the engine room reminds me of Pirlo, if he could stay fit he is mustard.
Still a little wasteful in final third, felt like a friendly little atmosphere and poor attendance.
Nice to see a win, looking forward to the rebuild now UTG.

Tackles and hussles well but as soon as he gets the ball the the play slows down or goes backwards. Needs more drive to push forward at pace

Evans ball in the build up to the goal was sublime. Great movement by Thomas and Martin too. Fully deserved the win. Played Gas.

Just needs the confidence to do it regularly.

Must admit to being very underwhelmed in the build up to this match and the match itself, been a Rovers supporter for 7 decades and their fortunes or otherwise have always been an influence on my state of mind, for some reason that influence has never been as low as it is now! anyway glad we won but have to say the D/C win gave me more of a boost than the Rovers win, very odd but i stress the 'D/C win as opposed to Cheltenham!

The issue is that we rarely have a boring end to the season we're either fighting against relegation or trying to get promoted back to L1, just being safe in L1 is a bit of an oddity!

It’s strange that we’ll finish this season in a higher place than last, but I felt much more optimistic this time last year than I am now!

One fan would like to know what game Monk was watching

Hope Rossiter coming off was precautionary. He went into a strong challenge a minute or two earlier and looked a little bit uncomfortable afterwards. He looked class whilst he was on the pitch, as he did on Saturday. I think we’re just managing his time to 50 mins right now. Was very similar to Saturday Commentators were surprised he came out for the 2nd half as they believed he was only due to play the first 45mins.

I would love to see a interview when they play badly. 🤣🤣 I get he needs to keep his players confidence high for the last two games considering where they are at in the table but this seems delusional

Just needs the confidence to do it regularly. He does have those moments but is that really his responsibility? We have other creative players who need to take the lead in our attacking play - I feel a bit sorry for some of the players who receive the ball deep as the lack of pace and movement in front of them does make it hard to always play forward.

Was very similar to Saturday If he’s fit he’s such an important player so in the last two games I’ve been watching his reaction to challenges and turns - he’s certainly not been holding back! Last night just before he came off he went into one and for a second or two he looked a little bit uncomfortable - he came off a minute or two later which worried me. Coming off after 50 minutes seems odd if it was scheduled? Surely those 5 minutes wouldn’t be that important so if planned why not take him off at half-time? Hopefully we’ll get a positive update later this week 🤞

A few observations from me from last night...
1. Rossiter could be like a quality new signing next season if he can stay fit. His break up play, simple passing and leadership is just what that team needs. He is our ready made Finley replacement for when he inevitably moves back up North.
2. You cannot fault Martin's goal returns this season and his (usual) finishing, however with him in the team, it can sometimes be so frustrating to watch with his huge lack of pace. There was a couple of times last night where if we had someone through the middle who could challenge/beat the average L1 CB for pace then the perfect through ball from one of the CMs or wingers would have been on but you just can't do it with him as the striker. That team is crying out for some pace up top.
3. Brandon Aguilera... I like the guy, he seems fantastic with the young fans and he has scored a couple of really good goals for us, however, I am yet to be convinced at all and don't understand the love in with him... A lot of the time, he has been largely ineffective and last night, there was a 10 minute period where I forgot he was on the pitch. He may be on loan from a Prem club and has caps for Costa Rica but with his performances for us, if he was called John Smith and was on loan from Wigan, I can't see him getting the love in that he does.
4. Jevani Brown has rightly taken a bit of stick in the past and it wasn't his best performance again once he came on last night but his footballing brain is second to none in our squad. His little flick a few weeks ago that led to the Martin goal was sublime and last night, his dummy that allowed the ball to go to Thomas for the goal was again brilliant and largely went unnoticed.
5. How bloody good was it to see Anderton on that pitch at HT looking as fit and well as he did. He seemed to be genuinely emotional and I don't think I have ever heard the Mem so quiet during a half time interview with everyone listening to his every word. A really nice chap who will be forever remembered fondly here for that promotion season and the subsequent Gloucester Road lamp post party.

I would love to see a interview when they play badly. 🤣🤣 I get he needs to keep his players confidence high for the last two games considering where they are at in the table but this seems delusional I've got Ray Kendall's autobiography. In it he describes Terry Cooper's sacking. We lost away and after the directors asked him why. Instead of giving them some technical BS he simply said "we were rubbish." He was sacked days later. Managers have to come out with some sort of utter twaddle. To justify themselves - it's their job on the line.
