You cant stop anyone nor should you want to - The point is undrstanding why - Until then, there is not argument to be made just two people experessing opposing views I want to stop people being racist and homophobic. I'm sure that we all do. I think that what MSM is saying, is that it needs to go deeper than just telling them that they are not allowed to say those things. |

I find it enlightening that MSM calls me a twat for expressing a viewpoint, a view about my own close family, then decries those for expressing a viewpoint whilst claiming we should try to understand all viewpoints. As it happens I agree we should. But, to say I should try to understand my own father is quite ridiculous. As If we had not had those conversations. We could never agree because his prejudice was irrational, prejudice generally is. And that is the very point. Prejudice, in whatever form, is irrational. Whether it be aimed at physical appearance, skin colour, choice of faith. It's irrational, stupid, crass and ignorant. There are no excuses, but I do recognise time. Which is why I mentioned my grandfather's decade of birth. Context. I accepted that. A point lost on MSM who chooses to describe me as a "twat". Sadly many people laughed with Alf Garnett, not at him as the show intended. It appeared to be scripted to make him look the racist fool, however it did not work and many saw him as their racist hero. It failed and he is still lauded today by some as some sort of funny idol. 🤦🏾♀️ My own father, a racist dickhead Well, at least he only passed 50% of his characteristics on to you. |

I disagree It very much did work, but what people laughed at was very much generational. My grandfather was born in 1887 and laughed with the character not at him. My own father, a racist dickhead (born 1930) also with, not at. A lot of us laughed at. And argued with the National Front in the 1970s I think you are being a twat - People are entititled to their own views. You and I were not arounfdi in the 30's so have no idea of the feelings at that time. It is better to try and undersatand why people thing as they do rather than act supperior with your own comfertablke life feelings. And before you get all Woke on me - I'm 58, half Polish with grandparents that died in Camps in WW2 so obiviuley not racist - You should have had a chat with your Dad and understood why rather than acting so rightous I think someone else picked this up already, but I agree with them that you don't need to qualify your statement of "I'm not racist". It needs no justification whatsoever and should be the baaic standard of any decent human being, which Im sure you are. Adding additional information is often used by bigots who say things like "I can't be racist, I have a black friend" while they continue to be racist twats. A good example would be my father, who is a vile racist and misogynist despite having a Philippino wife, 2 mixed race children and 2 daughters. |

As for me ? well, my Grandmother was murdered in Dachau and my father forced into the German Army - And I could go on but you really dont derserve any explanation from me - Whoever you are. The point I am making, now try to keep up, is that people, form different times, and experiences, will have formed opions based on their own lives - If that is difficult to understand then I am more than happy to meet you in person and explain The point you are making is not the point I am making. It’s a strange world we live in now … As a Dad to two 18 year olds I genuinely fear for how things / behaviours will continue to evolve and how their lives will be affected.
I don’t understand many things that are deemed normal speech or behaviour now. I have no concept of what is being said when listening to the Sunday dinner chat now … my own identity has morphed from Daddy to Dad to Bro - I put a stop at Fam though. Thankfully it’s returned to Dad.
All that said … I can’t stand bullying or bullies - abuse of any sort and especially when said to an isolated person is wrong. The more we can do to recognise it and call it out as wrong is surely the right way to go.
