I'm in a minority here but I look forward to Steve Evans visiting the Mem I remember a few years ago someone chucked a pasty over the barrier for him over on the East terrace stewards had to intervene, I also like a crap referree and there are plenty out there purely to ramp up the atmosphere at a somewhat flat Mem at times. UTG. One question....Did he eat the pasty? The reason it kicked off was he wanted two.

I’m sure you already knew the feelings on here about MT. Very divided on Gaschat. So I’m not sure we really needed the warning but thank you for giving the pot a good stir! 😉 Give MT a chance to recruit and GF a chance to develop and as with every manager no guarantees. Except with Steve Evans who I’m sure can be guaranteed to be an absolute tool on the sidelines and be the foul-mouthed, unpleasant cheat that he’s been for most of his career. Some might forget what he did as Boston, some don’t. UTG! UTG. Yes, that was funny. Could have been the same incident I remember. I think that was when Rotherham came on a Tuesday evening in February 2013. I was on the east terrace just behind the dugouts and him and Raynor were giving a lesson in being knobs. John Ward was standing just shaking his head at their antics. Fans were chucking things at him as you say. Rotherham won 2-0 (?) I think. Which in their minds justified their actions I guess. UTG!

I reckon this is another Alfie May type link. We’re quite happy to let it be known we’ve spoken to them about him but in reality we won’t talk seriously about money and wages etc and then declare we were just pipped by better offers having never really made one. It maintains the appearance that we’re prepared to splash serious cash but our transfer fee ceiling is more than likely about half that of the bigger budget L1 clubs and we’re already priced out of the race for players commanding a substantial fee.

Other than to increase what other expect us to pay, which isnt a bonus.

Look fanbase we really were after decent players we just didn’t quite get them … sorry you ended up with the squad you got but we tried! And it’s not just the fanbase they’ll be trying to convince, if we want Evans to extend his contract being linked with better players than we can afford might tip the scales. LT and Connor T would be kept happier if there seemed to be some quality in the signings we attempted to make.

Or has this new cunning ruse only began with Alfie May? Then what about £300k for Conteh? You are overthinking it, in my humble opinion. They have told us our budget is lower, pretending to be willing to throw money about for appearances makes no sense.

Both LT and Connor were signed in the spirit of JB getting the band back together and the promise of a forward of the calibre of May or JCH which didn’t materialise. The £300k for Conteh was a sweetener for losing another of “the band” in Collins. We are weaker than we were at the start of last season with apparently a lot less to spend and supposedly about ten places to fill, hence Edwards, who is apparently worth top end six figures or just in seven figures isn’t a likely use of our war chest and mention of him as a rovers target is more for show than a realistic pick.

Several Division1 clubs are already signing above average players to boost their squads! UTG.

Not sure either player will get that excited by the fact that we're interested in signing a full back from Dunfermline! Assuming MT's been given some of the AC transfer money then hopefully we will pay fees for 1 or 2 players this summer.

Steve Evans- excellent league one manager but arguably achieves more with a lesser established group of players. He's known for having a temper, doesn't stay anywhere too long. I don't think I'd stay motivated for very long.
I kinda hope he does well but I'm not jealous of him being there.
On Matt Taylor- clearly yet to prove himself at this level and there's a bit of inconsistent messaging from previous clubs.
- Well liked at Exeter, developed youth - poor at Rotherham, signed has beens.
From his interviews, I feel he likes experience. Always talks up the senior members of his squad. He also mentioned getting slightly older loans next year. However our board I've clearly set a remit and in theory Friend will identify players. Jury is out, but from gutted not to be guided by Steve Evans.

You are right it does make no sense which I why I'm wondering if the new owners have any idea what they are doing. We were supposedly willing to splash out £800k+add ons for JCH less than a year ago, have sold Collins for almost the same amount since but yet the purse strings are being tightened. I'm not opposed to that for a club like ours, but it's giving very mixed messages.

Assuming it wasn't all just a PR exercise you have to sense when the the new owners arrived they were taken in by Wael & JB saying we had a good chance of promotion if we signed a striker/JCH. Then at some point they realised JB hadn't built a promotion chasing squad and we were on course to lose £m's so then completely changed track.

I know there is a long way to go but some news today before the long weekend would be nice!
A new signing? A contract extension? Some East stand news? Some South stand facilities/logistics improvements news? The new kit launch? A hint that we are gearing up for an exciting season? Anything......?

Might have known that would just be an open invite to the "gallows humour" crowd!
