I wonder if Mr Hargreaves played a part in Rotherham signing Dawson by revealing he was set to sign for us

Where have we seen that before đź‘€ But in all fairness it could have been the player taking his time to see if someone else comes in for him e.g. more money, closer to home?

ROTHERHAM KEEPER RECENTLY SOLD (18th May)
Swedish international goalkeeper Viktor Johansson has signed a three-year deal with Stoke City.
UNDISCLOSED FEE BUT RUMOURED TO BE SEVEN FIGURES
(This helps to explain the late change of mind by Cams. Money and location big motivation.)

Not bothered - it would have disrupted Jed's place in the squad.

Why does it, when that was a month ago but he seems to have agreed a deal with us since then? DH seems to be hinting that we delayed getting the deal completed rather than the player.

He was talking with us and had not agreed a deal. Let’s face it - he was probably aware that there may be other offers pending and so was waiting to see what happened .Practically Rotherham was a better fit and they would not have to pay things like moving expenses or perhaps increase the waves because house are more expensive down here.m people play the press so that they come out of it better - take it all with a pinch of salt and move on . We win some and we lose some

I think this is a major blow and even worse if it's Rovers fault for delaying completion. Jed will be a really fine keeper but he's not there yet and someone with the experience and presence like Dawson would have given us that solidity and stability at the back we have been missing.

I guess if he's considered to be good enough to be Rotherham's No 1, assuming that's the intention, we've missed out on a top 3/top 6 goalie, although there's plenty of experienced goalies around, unlike 20 goals a season strikers.

For what it is worth, I am just pleased we are being linked with a player of Dawson's calibre. And when I say linked, I mean by local journalists covering clubs who don't tend to publish stories on rumours rather than all these ridiculous X/Twitter pages. He is clearly a top keeper and if Evans is to be believed, a host of Championship clubs as well clearly some of the better sides in L1 were in for him.
If you add that to the fact several sides were in for Ellison (if that one does indeed get over the line) and we have signed one of the best players in L2 last season, perhaps the Matty Taylor pulling power is there after all despite what some say. There is clearly a long way to go though in this transfer window and lots of additions needed but we are competing, and in some cases beating, some decent sides to some good players at our level.

Pretty baffling take, looked a very promising signing and a shame we’ve missed out!

Exactly -- This is how I see the situation as well. All these people crying out " He's one of our own " Well I can remember Marcus Law & Ryan Clarke. Jed will get his time but in the meantime needs to be nurtured and learn his trade and hopefully with an experienced goalie to help/ learn from will get there. But at this time we need an experienced goalie.
