TBF we allowed seven to leave and have signed seven, with three offered contracts two months ago, none of which have been announced as being signed, suggesting (to me at least), they were offered no more than before and perhaps less and may all leave. Sam Finley and John Marquis will have been on good money, so it could well be that we have made savings this year, but have offered longer contracts. We may need to see Evo go before MT has the money to invest in a striker.

Looks like Wael has just started following Kevin Maher. Unlikely to be joining Matt Taylor’s team surely ?
Also. Re hoole and Sinclair. They could have signed extensions weeks ago. Rovers this summer are releasing info when they want to!

Rovers this summer are releasing info when they want to! Agree that Hoole and Sinclair could have already re-signed, but I don't see why they wouldn't have announced that. Also some further cost savings in coaching / non-playing wages as well I guess, between JB's team and Anssi / JB leaving two months ago.

But easy to say "my former club came in with an offer just too good to turn down", although he couldn't really say he was dreading pre-season and hoping another club would offer a way out! Perhaps the last person commenting on that article was on to something? "If he was as good as people make out then why on earth is he still at a National League Club. Even if he had of got the club promoted last season then they would have been back down the following season. If he wants to go places then it will not be at Southend but rather as an assistant manager elsewhere."

Still can't see we'll save the rumoured 25% apparently cut from the wage bill this season, unless Finley and so were being paid silly money, if so, it seems a reasonable saving anyway.

That’s why he’s been released Taylor wanted to keep him but the board didn’t want to keep him because the wage he was on and Finley knew he wouldn’t get the same elsewhere .I was told that by a certain coach.

Also you think they’ve spent a lot of money? They’ve used Collins money to buy the other players and they’ve been minimal fees /Tribunal and we got a lot of money off the wage bill finley/Marquis the club will sale Evans and reinvest on a striker.

Sounds like smart business hopefully 🤞 I think so as well but it doesn’t mean there’s loads of money there’s not much from previous season because it was not sustainable.but we’re being clever with are business with high potential players on small fees or free agents.

Releasing finley was the right call. Just doesn't influence the game like he used to, and a bit of a liability for a silly sending off/bookings. Guess they were thinking Rossiter was going to resign after his end of season cameos to rotate with Conteh

Finley was on 4,500 a week😱 More Gaschat nonsense just like the suggestions that the playing budget was being cut by 25% and that no players were prepared to sign for us. What do you hope to gain by posting such nonsense? Finley signed for us in L2 so there's no way we were paying in more than £3K a week even if we offered him top L2 money.

He signed an extension mate didn’t he in the end of the league 2 season with a year left. Wael spent a hell of a lot of money on Barton’s players that’s why he’s sold up most his chunk because Barton’s spent money on old past there sale by date players
