Unfortunately he was told to pick Brown by the hierarchy as they were hoping to sell him in the summer 😂😂 Is that for real??? Thought you'd know the rules by now. Hugo - you can't question those ITK!

I loved DCs time with us (or most of it.) But I also remember the awful lows times at which DC faced awful abuse, booing and other bad stuff. Far worse than what MT has faced so why wouldn’t we give MT a chance without harking back to DC. We gave time to DC and he came through with his own team and now he is seen like some kind of Messiah(probably by the very same people who abused him in 2014). No guarantees but MT has to be given that time to recruit the players he needs. Good luck to him.
UTG!

Like at Rotherham where he signed a bunch of crocks and experienced players who contributed little (where have we heard that before?), broke the club transfer record twice in one window and somehow managed to make things worse with 1.00 PPM in 22/23 to 0.69 for 23/24 when he was sacked.

Yes pirate I know your views on MT and you’ve made it clear that you’d sack him. 😉 But he is the current manager. I’d say it was very unlikely that he will get sacked at this point in time so what do you do? Get rid of him and push all the preparation for next season about 4 weeks into the future whilst a new manager is found. Making next season more difficult than it will already be. Or….. We could leave him in post but not support him in the summer and let him limp through the Autumn before inevitably leaving around the end of October with us in the relegation zone. Or…… Let him carry on with the plans that will probably be in place already with George F and others to build a squad that will be more suited to his style of play in the hope that the chemistry of the players signed works better than this seasons. Are there any other options? Seriously. As to ‘signing a bunch of crocks’ I completely agree. No one would do that would they? Except a few BRFC managers over the years culminating in this years squad! Given the crocks we’ve had this year what % of the sizeable budget did they take up? 20% 30%? On that basis we can probably manage the lower budget this coming season if spent sensibly.😉 Given that the owners appear to have set a budget that most seem to think is lower than before (though how anyone knows for certain I’m not sure) I doubt we’ll be breaking our transfer record. Certainly not twice as you say Rotherham did. So it’s unlikely you’ll need to worry about that. Albeit the Conteh fee seems to have been over or very near to our previous record. And of course using the argument that any previous failure as manager sets a limit on future achievement as a manager is not right is it? Using that argument we'd never have appointed Gerry F after his failure at Exeter. And of course you may turn out to be right and that you can come back in October or November and say ‘I told you so….’ (I’m sure you wouldn't 😉). Just as those who have put forward and supported previous managers who got sacked after disastrous records as manager got it wrong, BG for example, there are no guarantees. We just hope that he recruits well, sets up the team to play decent football with players who have pace and strength where it’s needed and who gel as a team. Good luck to him. As a fan of BRFC I hope he does well. To wish him anything else would be strange for anyone who supports us. Wouldn’t it? UTG!

For all the back stabbing and spite that the usual suspects have on here about personality etc - Matt Taylor is a thoroughly decent , honest bloke - Great family man who wants the club to do well. I really hope some of the things / personalities / behaviours he has had to deal with are made public - when you are trying to bail out a boat taking on water - and half of the team cant be arsed and a few are putting more water back in, you have one heck of a job to stay afloat - we did just about. We will really get to see this window and hopefully the next few, how he encourages players to the club and works closely with George and the Recruitment team. I have said the project will take time and we need to accommodate that - I can already see at least 10 teams who could / should be stronger than us next season so our first real foundation period under MT will see highs and lows for sure. Season tickets and car parking already purchased - My son and I will be there to support our team.

I've heard from two separate people who attended the awards evening that when Taylor was giving his speech players were heckling and making audible snoring noises. Some may laugh this off as 'banter' but for contracted players to openly mock the manager in front of sponsors etc, we can only guess what was going on behind closed doors. No one deserves that treatment in their place of work

Funny old game football. Most managers lose their jobs following a poor run of results, yet most are re-employed at another club and often lauded as the saviour that club has been waiting for.
Some are lucky and become that saviour, some aren't so lucky and get sacked again, only to jump back on the merry go round somewhere else.
Who's to say MT won't be our saviour this time round?
I'm all for giving him a fair crack with his own squad. We'll all have a better idea come Wednesday morning and more so by the end of May, if the early arrivals materialise.
I'm so glad not to be employed by some of the posters on here...

He's absolutely not going to leave this season. He'll want Shels first title in 18 years.
