What would really and I mean really boil my pi$$ is if the club would be making a profit on the cards. I mean it’s bad enough charging someone £15 after you’ve bought a season ticket for a hard copy of one but to make a profit on it would be scandalous after admin fees etc. Think we are all in agreement, this has been done wrong. And some should be given the card at no cost (not sure how this would be done tho). And no one should be charged AFTER the fact. But charging and YES making a profit, on a card is fine to 1) encourage a more sustainable/modern solution and/or 2) cover costs (and more) for those wanting the old way. Making money to fund the clubs ambitions is kinda the point.

The problem is for whatever reason(s) the club wants to stop using cards, how is that going to work by still giving them out free, as even fans who don't really need one will still get one? They’re still offering cards. We don’t need to worry about that yet. Only if somebody pays £15 so it's going to restrict who gets one, which is clearly the clubs intention.

If no fans buy one the club won't make a penny.

This isn’t about money per se in my opinion. The problem is the club has acted without thinking things through again and without considering the customers’ points of view. I am over 70 and have a smartphone BUT as somebody has already mentioned I know many my age that have had PCs for many years and are quite tech savvy but have chosen not to get smartphones. I actually know two that got smartphones but decided to go back to simpler mobiles as the smartphones were ‘taking over their lives’. Despite having a smartphone and using it for away tickets quite often (where I usually use Supporter’s Club coaches) I have rarely used it at home games. I travel by motorcycle from Bath. I often arrive very cold or wet, sometimes both. The cold has killed the battery on my phone more than once! The wet is more of an issue and I’ve never risked even taking out of its protective freezer bag. I’d also struggle to use it as my fingers take quite a while to regain feeling sometimes. My season ticket card lives in the free wallet from a few seasons back and is relatively easy to remove from the outside chest pocket and hold under the turnstile reader even with gloves on. Then you have to show it again to the stewards on the West Stand. The inconvenience of using my phone would be bad enough. However, the real issue is moving the goalposts after I’d paid. The confirming email even refers to my season ticket as a plastic card and that any REPLACEMENT would be charged as £15, fair enough (for a ‘replacement’) but I don’t have the original yet - unless you are going to reactivate this season’s?. C’mon Rovers, play the game by the rules, don’t change them part way without telling anyone (I still haven’t heard anything from you by the way?)

I see from the OS article the tickets are being sent out by email and can be added to our digital wallets, which I assume means that they are just the standard QR or bar codes which can be printed off, if so, then it's not really clear why the club are charging £15 for a card version,

I don’t think people have issue with the premise, it’s how the club has gone about it. I dont think Michael O’Leary would be as cloak and daggered about this. Not sure about that, adding the cost after the event is totally crap, but plenty on here and on SM are saying that it causes issues if they forget their phone, leave it in the car, drop it down the toilet or just don't want to use it, and then say 'what am I supposed to do'? I left my season ticket card at home for one game last season. I went to the ticket office and they needed my account number. Ironically, it was lucky I had my smartphone on me and I could log into my ticket account to get that number. I wouldn't have got into the game without my smartphone.

Pretty certain a name and address would be sufficient plus some form of ID.

I don't carry a wallet with me. So, I didn't have any ID on me.

It seems that disabled supporters will get a card at no cost, everybody else will have to pay the £15. The introduction of the £15 charge was decided by the owners, TG was not aware that it was happening. (via somebody who has had a response to their email to TG)

TG now seems to be CEO in name only.
