Think we are all in agreement, this has been done wrong. And some should be given the card at no cost (not sure how this would be done tho). And no one should be charged AFTER the fact. But charging and YES making a profit, on a card is fine to 1) encourage a more sustainable/modern solution and/or 2) cover costs (and more) for those wanting the old way. Making money to fund the clubs ambitions is kinda the point. Surely it's not about making money but restricting how many fans purchase one, basically it's a deterrent. If no fans buy one the club won't make a penny. I agree. This is exactly what is happening at Leicester. They are charging £25 if you want to use a physical card and giving the money to charity. Proving they aren't doing it for profit, just trying to steer fans into using the digital alternative.

If you have access to emails then you can just print off the QR code when it's received and use that, you don't need a physical card I don't have a printer and wouldn't know how to use one if I did. You should only to print it or take a photo of the card once. Most library's will help someone print something. Do you not know anyone, that can print something as a one off?? In today's society a lot of things are going digital only. I've bought tickets for a lot of events, that have been digital only. A lot of loyalty cards are going to digital only etc. Even taking the kids out for the day, you have to book in advance a lot of the time and show an email me. Fans moan that we don't get with the times. But when they do anything to move with the times, people moan then as well.

Didn't all the banks get in trouble with admin charges many years ago and had to drop them as they had to justify charging £30 for sending a letter. I assume the club are hoping that so few will want a card that it'll cost them nearly £15 per card via a money grabbing card printing company. If everyone wanted a card then that cost would come down. Probably a few people on here that could make a card, stick the QR code on it and even personalize it before laminating it for considerably less. Might actually do that for myself The Leicester £25 now going to charity seems a bit knee jerk. Interesting that few clubs that they contacted have gone this way.

Tesco, Morrisons etc all continue to give their customers the option of a physical membership card, I wonder why? Because if they don’t they will push customers away, we all know a fully digital world is coming but it needs to be done organically and with respect for those who will struggle with it. Any decent company would see that, it’s why cash is still accepted widely. We should empathise with those who have difficulty with these type of things, not brush them aside 👍🏾

You get app exclusive offers, that you only get on your SMART device. I save more than £15 a year. So if I just used my physical card, I would be more than £15 a year worse off. Maybe we should have charged everyone £15 more and then gave everyone £15 credit to spend at the club, if they opted out of a physical card. You will never keep everyone happy though.

Did you receive the same confirmation email as I did? Does it state " Digital Only Season Card"? At that point, under the distance selling rules you have 14 days to get a refund. No questions asked. What did your order confirmation say?

Not in any emails I received offering me the opportunity to renew. Did any of those use the word 'Card'? Did any of those say you will have anything physical? They used the word 'Ticket' in the ones I have just looked at. If you can find anywhere that says you would receive a physical card then absolutely you have a claim against the club for £15. If you don't have that, then unfortunately the law says "Let the buyer beward" (bit probably in some clever latin).
