What's Ward really going to learn sat on the bench for most league games, he needs to be playing competitive games and learning from his mistakes etc. Agree. Nothing more soul destroying for a keeper being sat on the bench all season. We either say he’s our No 1 or he goes out on loan. UTG We shall see. Like I said it'll be down to him and an experienced keeper to fight for the shirt. But keepers generally lose thier confidence, especially young keepers when they make mistakes. I hope Ward is our number one for the season and holds onto the shirt, but I'm sticking to what I said, personally I think he will get 10 to 15 games, the cup matches etc... Which will be plenty of experience for such a young keeper. You have to consider the level at which he gains experience also, is 15 games at league 1 better for his development than a season in the conference?

What would be better for his development: 1) 10 - 15 games at League One 2) 46 games at League Two 3) being sold to Championship/Premiership team for £1m plus add ons For me, 46 games at League two. He is on a 5 year contract, we'll get him back with more experience and hopefully an increase in value. Any mistakes will not count against us. Get a more experienced keeper in for our first team.

UTG A better example of soul destroying would be how the gasheads got on the back of Cox and the other young keeper we had the season before when they made mistakes.

I’m more with you than the others but would hope he plays even more games than that. Annoyingly Belshaw would have been the perfect competition, mentor and buddy for this coming season. A 27 year old champ keeper unlikely to be tempted by that role.

Sorry but i didnt say that Cox was superior to Ward. What i did say was that he did receive a raw deal from our "supporters" because he was not one of our own. I would still definitely want and expect an experienced keeper to be signed as our number 1 this season.

League One, most keepers will be perceived as having a weakness. Often easier to blame keeper when goal goes in. Unless we discover another Martyn any keeper will be scrutinised next season.
When One of our own players seemed to get bigger up then quickly put down.

Pretty certain posters previously said he got a raw deal as he wasn't Belshaw and he clearly wasn't one of our own.
