I've heard that a Gas Girls player made a misconduct complaint against a prominent club sponsor, following an investigation the club parted ways with the sponsor. This put noses out of joint as it was a longterm sponsor who funded both the mens and women's teams. The women's team are on non-paid rolling contracts so you can be let go at any point. At the time of the complaint the women's team were on course to win a league and cup double so they didn't release the player during the season, they waited until the end of the season. If true this is water poor. Not looking after the player at all. It's not clear from the post if the complaint was upheld/accepted by the club, or the sponsor just took umbridge at being accused of something they didn't do and decided to withdraw their sponsorship?

Looks like controversy with the women's team. They have announced their retained list, and it is missing Libby Bell who has arguably been their best player and captain. She would definitely not leave by choice. Who is pulling the strings here? I have a good idea I know this is from a while ago but I've been following the Gas girls rise and have watched them quite few times when they played in Cornwall and Plymouth over the last few seasons....they're a good watch. I see Libby Bell, who I was annoyed to see released, has unsurprisingly found herself going up to Tier 3 with Cheltenham Town Ladies....she would of been an asset this season but deserves her chance to play higher. The bulk of the team from last season were retained and over the last few weeks they've been added to with experience from Tier 3/4 players and some up and coming talent. Looks like whoever is pulling the strings have done a good job and season ticket holder who want a free football fix on a Sunday should at least try once watching the girls play at the Mem!

Then you really have to ask the question why Rovers released her. I will certainly be interested in going to The Mem on a Sunday to watch the Gas Girls this season.

It is a strange one that they would release their best player. Maybe they knew it was unrealistic to keep her as her aspirations were higher than Tier 4 and let her go. Allowing local Tier 3 teams to offer her a contract!

The Gas Girls seem to have strengthened and will hopefully be competitive next season. Fingers crossed no bad blood and everyone are happy with their current situations!

Last season's top goalscorer: She was originally on the retained list....that is definitely a weird one....I know a couple of strikers have been signed with Tier 4 experience but you would have thought she'd be given a go....was looking forward to watching her again this season....not a happy bunny

Last season's top goalscorer: Sadly, it all sounds a bit typical Rovers. Best of luck to her in the future.

Posters should be mindful of libellous content and remember why the original gaschat was shutdown. Mods should remove posts accordingly especially those about the current CEO who has a wife and kids Putting 2 & 2 together I'm guessing the "prominent club sponsor" was our previous seasons front of shirt sponsor, unless they've now totally pulled out of sponsoring individual football clubs this season?

Last season's top goalscorer: the Women’s set up are playing Football Manager ent they. Gaining promotion and winning games for fun, only to release them for players released 2/3 divisions up the ladder.

"And you think the men's team is poorly run..."
I really hate thread titles like this. it happens all the time. It's reactionary, it's prejudged, it's a very cheap shot at the club & very negative. Over time you start to realise that there 'might' be different or other things being considered by the decision makers.
I just wish people would take breath, think and be a bit more considered in what they write rather than lob grenades which the title of this thread is.
