I've been critical and skeptical of our new owners but they appear to actually have a plan and are enacting it. I like the idea of paying low fees for young players with an eye to turning a profit and I'm cautiously starting to get on board with that strategy. Sustainability is the only way we will survive and at last, it looks like we are working towards that. It's a gamble, but loosing £5M a year (or whatever people claim it to be) is a bigger risk so we should give them a little slack to see if their plan works People have said it for years, it's the Peterborough playbook. If Ivan Tony gets sold, that will generate more income than 5 seasons of attendance fees! I think what has happened is they have come in with a business head on. Previously, the talk has been about being more 'commercial'. That meant increasing fan costs, whether that is through beer prices, attendance price or sponsorship. Problem is, that will only add £1m, maybe £2m to the bottom line. When making losses of £5m then that is not enough. So, they have had a change of plan. The first is the exciting one for us. Buy players, develop them and sell on with a resale clause. Maybe we will get an Ivan Tony type deal in the next 5 years. Then there is the student accommodation. That would be worth around £2m of revenue each year, maybe more. I also want to see a sporting acquisition into the brand. I am scared that Lansdown will get his grubby little mits on the pitbulls. North Bristol, should be one of us! Lansdown was one of us 🙄. Fishponds boy, watched Rovers as a kid. Very strange man.

I seem to remember reading that he approached the Rovers board with a view to joining and they turned him down. It was early days, before Hargreaves Lansdown became the size it is today.
