Nichols took a fistful of cash, and gave back a handful of nothing.

Another great signing on paper, welcome young man. As always the proof as to whether any of these signings are good or the new philosophy will be in the results they achieve. Let’s hope we start well and the season is a good one 👍🏾

Just been on the Barnsley forum and it was an interesting 10 mins after we got Promise O and they didn’t. Some of the comments made me laugh, “we can’t compete with their (meaning us!!) financial clout.” Then someone called us “moneybags.” And DC said he'd missed on their top targets. I wonder if DC had a straight face? After all these years he rocks up at Barnsley who have ambitions and finds he’s been out-bid by us! The irony of it.
But seriously I don’t think we’ve got financial clout nor are we moneybags but we have sold Antony Evans and Aaron Collins for money and have used it I’m presuming. And it’s alway interesting to read about the perception other clubs have about us.
UTG!

Owners putting money into the club can't argue with that

I think we are actually stronger than last season - maybe not experience wise, but sustainability and potential wise. Much more balanced squad, in theory!

Obvs we wont be starting Promise & Martin together, so would imagine Chris will get less minutes. Need another striker in , Tony Cottee type would do us fine !

Pretty sure MacAnthony stated we paid £350k for Nichols but it would have been more if he had met any clauses, but thankfully he didn't as he was useless ha. Welcome Promise and good luck. Think he will be Thomas' replacement/competition and we'll still be in the market for a centre forward to challenge Martin. UTG Promise is here as a #9 and CF, he says so in the interview that it is his position and the reason he joined. From mostly a wide position his assists and creativity numbers might not have stood out, but his shooting metrics certainly did. Goals in the top 76.9% percentile ranking per 90, expected goals xG in the 90.7% percentile ranking and xG on target xGOT in the top 93.5% percentile ranking. Impressive. Even with the reported transfer fee being high, I do think there is a player with potential in Omochere. Still very raw and rough around the edges, but his 6ft 2in physical profile, previous experience and age are all appealing. With David Horseman's history in development stuff at the likes of Bristol City, Watford and Southampton, it's obvious why he was appointed in a coaching capacity. Hopefully Horseman can work his magic at The Quarters and turn those promising attributes into the goalscoring number 9 that we all crave. Looking forward to watching his development. 👍🏻

I assume turning PC into a decent No 9 won't happen overnight so CM could well start the majority of games this season, unless that is PC starts banging them in from the off.

Oh dear I hope his goalscoring return improves then, Hanlan was a decent enough wide forward shoehorned in as a #9 I hope we're not making that mistake again. If it's the correct player I'm thinking of, he was very impressive at the Mem last season cutting in from the wing and tormented our full back that night! Exciting signing regardless UTG

However this is the main bit of criticism I think any Fleetwood fan will give Promise, it’s his 1v1 finishing. This has played a major part in why he hasn’t had the output he would’ve wanted in England.
I think this all comes down to his composure really & decision making infront of goal. I actually thought a step down a league would help his confidence a bit, however he’s chosen to stay in League One and prove himself, which is always a great sign of determination
Matt Taylor isn’t one to start a front 2, however if he is Promise gives a lot of flexibility, nontheless. The physical partnership of him and Chris Martin will work really well imo, Promise can drift into the channels & work with the overlapping full back, bringing a lot of athleticism.
Is he going to be the 18/20 goal a season striker that you’d want from a player who you’ve bought for £500k? No. However I think he can push his numbers up to 10-15 if he can really find his rhythm & most importantly not get disrupted by injuries.
Unless MT is going to play 2 upfront can he really risk dropping CM when he's likely to score 15/20 goals?

Promise,6 foot 4 and full of muscle, love it. No way is he a 6'4" winger, he looks around the 6' mark on the video highlights.
