We are talking about increasing the capacity of the ground to 17k with in a couple of years. First game of the season I would expect there to be enough casual gasheads wanting to watch us. If not I wonder where the 17k is ever going to come from. We won't sell out the 12k we have this season let alone 17k. It's being built in the hope we make the championship and can build the fan base. I honestly don't think we'd get 17k even in the champ unless challenging at the right end. Our supporter base is dwindling. Too many years of stagnation and truly awful facilities has cost us massively with the sh*t taking full advantage. “Dwindling” since when are you meaning? european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/league/brir.htm

Youl also find the last time we averaged 17k was 1959 so youl probably answer your own follow up questions.

Just think we are pretty stable with averages of low 7000s in a poor season and pushing 9k kn a good one. Think we’d see similar this year, are you expecting much worse?

Upto 2015 we were averaging under 7,000 since then we've been averaging 8,000/9,000, the stats suggest the fan base is increasing not dwindling.

Why will it be poor? We are playing very unattractive opposition + loads of Gasheads will be on holiday. When was the last time we sold out for a league match? We will be doing well to get 8,000. ps I have my ticket I hope I'm wrong but I agree. I think wel get in the low 7k mark. Low season ticket sales and a general lack of excitement and apathy about the club at the minute. It's going to be a slow start to the season on and off the field with a completely new team. Def over 9k

I do fear our average attendance this season will be lower yes. But I'd love to be wrong on this one.

Talking of attendances, is anyone taking on the guess the crowd role this year?
Hope we can get near 10k for Saturday, opening day optimism and all that.

Northampton never bring many, small club really, so think it will be about 8500.

Someone told me today the last time we won a opening day home match was in 2001 against Torquay Yup, and 2011/12 since our last opening day win, 2-3 away at AFC Wimbledon. I remember Harrold and McGleish putting us 2-0 up in ten minutes and thinking Paul Buckle was going to have us champions by Christmas.

What impact will the odd kick off time have on attendance?

So we’re likely to be looking at something like:
Griffiths Moore Wilson Mola Senior Ward Conteh Bilongo LT Hutch Promise
Which would mean 7 full debuts
Decisions:
CB: Wilson v Forbes v not 100% Taylor (I wouldn’t have Wilson FWIW but think he’ll start) RWB: Senior v Hunt (coin toss) CM: Ward v Conteh v Lindsay for 2 roles as it seems Garrett isn’t ready to start (I’d like to see Lindsay given a start) LWB: Bilongo v Sinc / LT Hutch v Macca v LT (i’d understand if any combination started, not sure this role would suit sincs unfortunately)

What impact will the odd kick off time have on attendance? I think it will affect the away attendance. Cobblers fans won’t be getting home till eleven-ish.

With the tough calls like Senior v Hunt and Ward v Lindsay I’d probably be inclined to go with the newbies if they are likely to be fit for the whole season to enable some long term stability in selection. I don’t think Hunt and Ward dipping in and out with constant niggles is going to be helpful(?). We definitely need Luke Thomas to add something different in the starting lineup. Sinclair is better suited to impact from the bench imo.

Didn't Taylor start v Plymouth and then play over 60 minutes, who's actually saying he's still injured, apart from Dan Hargreaves, who seems as much ITK as any of us?

Where’s it been said that Taylor’s not fit? When he’s played 2x 60 minutes.

Where’s it been said that Taylor’s not fit? When he’s played 2x 60 minutes. he's been coming back from surgery and hasnt played 90 yet, so a good chance he wont be risked on Saturday. I'd personally play a 90% fit taylor over Wilson. Havent seen enough of Forbes to comment

McGleish celebrated with a double somersault.Recall when he always jumped against 8' 12" defenders and having no chance to get the ball being so short but he did try.
