Was told by an internal club source at the Plymouth game that he was off. Good riddance, took the values of a family club and turned it into a purely P&L business, casting aside the SC and their volunteers and being an expert in non communication. Delighted that he has gone, and welcome the post-Wael leadership displayed by the new majority owners.

Im confused as to how he has supposedly bought us into the 21st century.
Reading this a lot tonight and before but what has that really entailed?
Genuinely can’t think of anything that’s really any more “21st century” than it was before he was CEO or before he was Commercial Director. A bit of eticketing? The fanzones and bar areas (will absolutely give him those)
Don’t get me wrong he has improved some aspects of the club. But in others and importantly on balance he was unfit to run the club. Communication was diabolical during his term as CEO and the list of gaffes just kept growing to the extent it was hard to keep track of. Yearly ticketing disasters, botched statements, events announced and then cancelled under the radar, a laughable failed attempt at rebranding where the club kept failing to take the hint, plus many others that are now forgotten. The matchday experience is awful on the terraces.
And no the South Stand doesn’t count. Wael’s cheque book is to thank for that.
I genuinely think it became a “gas fact” (not just gaschat) that he was “the young CEO in football” and that he was “modernising the club” when in fact I think he was no different to Martyn Starnes or Steve Hamer. I think some got taken in by his hubris and his award applications, or his response to his emails. (When they shouldn’t have had to email in in the first place)
Some won’t like what I’m saying here. But the fact of the matter if he was the club manager or a player he’d be fair game for criticism. So I see no issue with a critical assessment of his tenure. Few complained when Starnes and Hamer had similar assessments.

Seemed a nice enough chap but clearly wasn't up to the job, overseeing the losses increase to record levels during his tenure. Difficult to feel sorry for him when he'll be mostly remembered for outsourcing roles away from a number of existing club staff.
Good luck for the future Tom.
Glad to see we now have an experienced club secretary, basic stuff but hopefully a minor indication the club will be a bit more professional going forwards. UTG

People are extremely quick to forget how this club was before TG. He dragged us out of the dark ages. Sure, plenty didn’t go to plan, but we are in a much better place than before he arrived. He gave his all for the club and for that, I thank him. All the best Tom. TG also made some shocking b@lls ups along the way, this is probably the first season for a few years we've all got our season tickets over a week before the season starts. Plus the number of senior employees he's seemingly upset/forced out is probably well into double figures. At the end of the day if the owners thought he was doing a good job then I doubt he'd be leaving the club. Topper it wasn't long ago, we had a very small storage container in the car park and kids were queuing up as it was Santa's Grotto. TG made a few mistakes, he also has dragged this club forward alot more than people give him credit for.

We've finished the last two seasons just avoiding a relegation battle whilst running up eye water debts, last summer he b@lls up the signing of JCH and also getting pp for the new stand, I've no idea if it will even be finally finished for Saturday?. I can't honestly think of one good thing he's done, perhaps the Fans Zone but that's all supplied by outside caterers who, by TG's own admission, keep most of the profits.

Execution is everything. Many but not all of his ideas were sound, but he fell short in getting the tasks done. Planning issues surrounding the temporary stands (remember them?), and ticketing fiascos (Norwich replay in January) bookend his tenure.

Not the South Stand pp farce, who thought it was a good idea to start work w/o first getting pp? I wonder how much extra that cost the club in order to get the Greens/planners back on our side? The new owners suggested it was something like £1m(?) over budget.

Hard to know how good or how bad he’s been. Always came across well but that means little if what he had to do wasn’t done very well. But then again trying to do all the stuff that needed doing and trying to make the Mem fit for purpose must have been a challenge.
Being CEO in Wael’s time when he never seemed sure of the direction (stay at Mem/move) we were moving in and then having the managerial changes (the style of managers has been very different) and Covid must have been difficult to navigate especially as he himself was relatively young and inexperienced.
Add to this a list of bureaucratic cock-ups (which may or may not have been his fault) meant there was always going to be mixed opinions about him.
But good luck to him in his next venture. He will have learnt an enormous amount during his time with us so I hope he has the opportunity to go again elsewhere. 👍

The team not performing surely can't be TG fault..and I find it hard to believe that the owners didn't want pay the wages JCH was demanding I'm not sure how thats TGs fault either. Ok,on the flip side we didn't have a fan zone before TG arrived. And why shouldn't the business that no doubt pay some money for the pitch, take home majority of the money. They are business themselves and don't owe Rovers anything. The fan zone is very good place that alot of people gather and have a good time before a game.

Do you seriously think that by TG leaving, you're going to go back to the "good old days" of paper ticketing, having to go to the shop to see Kay to buy your ticket & people on the turnstiles whilst certain individuals rip off the club by dishing out freebies to their mates!? You're in for a shock I'm afraid...

I guess that's why we're losing £3m+ a season if we have external suppliers not only taking the majority of the money received but also trade from our own catering outlets inside the ground. I guess the same person also had the bright idea to hold events at Glos CCC even though we have our own hospitality rooms.

Perhaps there's a middle ground were we more professional and also everybody is made to feel part of the club, the CT seem to manager as do loads of other football clubs.
