Given the current situation and the tension that's currently surrounding the country will certain matches be called off. Lots of protests planned for the weekend football hooligans and protests not a good combo

Why should a cancellation even be considered. Why should we give way to a bunch of yobs whose only aim is inflict damage to property, the police and anyone who gets in their misguided and disgusting way of life. These animals get what they deserve - nothing.

Add to that all the L1 games are due to end at around 7:30pm this weekend and it sounds like a recipe for disaster, particularly in Birmingham & Bristol.
I wonder if the police will have sufficient numbers to cover both the games and marches if they are already planned in those two Cities?

I'd be very surprised if games are postponed for this reason. As we saw last weekend, the Police can obtain an order under Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act, that gives them enhanced stop and search powers or a dispersal order under Section 34 of the Anti-Social Behaviour & Policing Act. A&S Police applied S60 to cover Ashton Gate, the Mem and the city centre last Saturday and others are now imposing dispersal orders. I guess the question is whether the police can apply enough resource to service higher risk football matches and protests at the same time. Co-ordination is in place to allow for police support from other force areas, where higher risk is anticipated.
EDIT: Just reading Topper's post. It's more likely that the police request earlier kick off times to avoid possible conflict.

Surely the issue is those yobs tend to be football yobs and, sadly, they could well be Rovers fans, there's even one shown in a Rovers shirt on Facebook at last weekend's march/troubles. The other issue is can the police cope with a football match and a march taking place at the same time?

Didn't the guy in the Rovers top say on Facebook that he was at a family meal in Pasture when it all kicked off outside and when the picture was taken he was merely leaving the restaurant. The picture only shows a couple of rioters doing rioty things and then some guy in the background walking in a Rovers shirt.

Hopefully that's the case then but the photo I saw just showed a group of youths with no women or children in sight.

The way the police are policing it at present even if your in the vicinity your classed as contributing to the protest which is deemed an offence regardless if your participating in the trouble or not.

This weekend, I do not think games will be cancelled, but having spoken with the police regarding a community event I am organising which they are attending, I have been advised they may cancel at short notice. This is due to resourcing, several officers have been injured and are off work, shifts last weekend lasting 18-20 hours so the following days shift pattern totally messed up and officers having to cover forces elsewhere in the country leaving normal policing short of officers and in some locations non-existent.
Another 10 - 14 days of more violence, injured officers etc and I would imagine that police forces will not be in a position to police football matches and then a decision will have to be made by clubs, the league, the FA, the Govt, whoever that games will have to be cancelled.
Can only hope that some stiff prison sentences are given early on to offenders to act as a deterrent, which hopefully, will make others think twice about rioting and we can return to normal life and enjoy going to a football match.

Problem is, some have completely forgot what they are protesting about and are just using this as an excuse to have a fight.

Not sure most of us really care about other clubs games being called off.
