Never started a MDT but thought I’d give it a go as it’s the cup and a free hit and no one else had started one yet!
Expecting a large number of changes from Saturday but it should still be a pretty strong team. Can we follow the miracle of an opening day win with something else we rarely do - progress in the cup!?
I think Cardiff will be making a number of changes too and as I’m ever the optimist I’m predicting a narrow Gas victory…. 2-1 with Macca and Senior scoring…
Going for 3-4-1-2 formation again:
Griffiths
Taylor-Moore Taylor Forbes
Senior Lindsay Garrett Sinclair
Shaw
LT Macca
Subs: Hall, Anthony, Bilongo, Omochere, Mola, Hutchinson, Conteh
I don’t see Macca as a CF but I’m not sure Promise will be risked starting and we don’t have any other real options… Also not sure whether Taylor will give Brown a spot on the bench in place of one of the others - doubtful as he’s so far down the pecking order and looks like he’ll be on his way out imo

Cardiff should get a comfortable win, so for me, its about giving some of the players that didnt start Saturday a chance. They arent the reserves, I think we have 17/18 first teamers on paper which is stronger than last year. Hoping for a bonus win, and progression but that will be very tough away to Cardiff.
Griffiths Moore Taylor Forbes Senior Garrett Lindsay Bilongo Shaw McCormick Omochere

Cardiff will want to bounce back after a dismal start against Sunderland…
Absolute free hit for us but I sense the longer we can frustrate them the more likely we might sneak something.
Squad looks way stronger than last season so there will be some genuinely chomping at the bit to show what they can do.
Hopefully we give a good account of ourselves - that’s all I ask.

I would like to see Promise given a rest as Taylor already said he played 10 minutes more than he would have liked on the weekend, but we are so short of options there with injuries/suspensions. But I would expect the likes of Forbes, Taylor, Lindsey, McCormick and Garrett to come in. Hopefully Shaw and Anthony will at least make the bench as well.
Not hopeful of a result either way but much stranger things have happened.

Scrappy Gas win, and a chance to gloat to all my Bluebirds supporting friends hopefully.
For those who haven't driven over the bridge for a while the traffic at the tunnels on the M4, and on any of the routes into Cardiff, can be horrendous. Leave yourself plenty of time.

Tough game, shame we don't have more forward threat. They'll be looking for a confidence building win after the weekend. 2.0 Cardiff.

Chance to give some of the squad a game who didn’t play Saturday i would have thought. We are still lightweight up front so a narrow defeat I’m afraid 1-0 or 2-0 UTG

All about getting the rest of the squad up to match fitness. Can name 9 subsitutes so will be very telling if Jevani is one of them.
Griffiths
Moore Taylor Forbes
Senior Lindsay Garrett Sinclair
LT Shaw
Macca
Keep it tight and never know, but going for a narrow defeat. 2-1

Going for 3-4-1-2 formation again: Griffiths Taylor-Moore Taylor Forbes Senior Lindsay Garrett Sinclair Shaw LT Macca Subs: Hall, Anthony, Bilongo, Omochere, Mola, Hutchinson, Conteh I thought a similar starting line up but with Anthony as LWB instead of Sinclair and maybe starting Hutchinson to try and build some confidence after a nervy debut. Are we able to play any of the youth players? If we are I'd maybe give Dewsbury a place on the bench as well as Sotiriou if fit for 20/30 mins.

You can name 9 substitutes in this competition instead of the usual 7 too. So couple of extra spaces might allow a youngster or 2 to be part of it.

Taylor Garrett Lindsay Macca Senior LT further up the pitch
If they all play I’d suggest this could be a stronger side than we had out on Saturday. Definitely a side to play more football as opposed to the athletes we had on Saturday.

I like this team with 3 at the back, finally we seem to have a team that may be able to play it. The downside is the opposition can overrun us a bit in midfield - as Northampton did at times, but we still had enough with the wing backs and direct play to Omochere to create more than enough to win. A bigger test of that today assuming Cardiff go with the same formation they did Saturday.
