Why…? We don’t need anymore defenders. The way we are going to play this season will rely on fit wing backs providing an outlet and (hopefully) opportunities for our attackers. I’m really excited by this approach and to me it’s what we’ve been missing for a while now. To play this way takes energy and with the 5 subs available you can mix it up and add pace to replace pace. We all know we need another striker but let’s not panic, we’ve started the season with only one fit (ish) one available so it’s a bit of a false situation. Build from the back, welcome to the club and let’s get behind these young guns! UTG

Are we going down the route of not finding a striker so attempting to create a solid defence and not concede that many? Going to make for some boring games to watch if so

It still matters. As we still have no experience at left back and will have him plus the 3 we have already. It will take away opportunities for our own players. Micah Anthony is now our player and is a player for the future, I see him going out on loan as Dan Ellison will be. The club are building long term not just for this season. I don’t think Mola is seen as a permanent left back option. I'm not sure that signing a young loan player from Villa is building for our future?

We were always going to sign another LB / LWB.
Mola has clearly been signed to play primarily as a left sided centre back, and Bilongo looks suspect defensively despite an encouraging debut on Saturday.
I don't know anything about Sousa, but if he's as good as Vale I'll be happy.

Well, we have only played one game with wing backs and used four on Sat. Think each one provided at least one, not going to watch again and count.

Not sure about a young left back lad from Villa, for me Mola plays when fit, BRFC seem to be collecting defenders; from what I have seen so far the two new forwards are very much work in progress, what's needed is somebody who can guarantee 20+ goals. Lets hope Chris Martin has still got it in him, although I doubt he will be able to play every week.

Only BB looks capable of doing that and we've not really seen enough of him to see if he's the next Jack Hunt or another Leadbitter/Hoole.

I thought wing backs played primarily when it was a back three. Last night we played a back four with Senior and Mola at full backs. Sinclair and Thomas were providing width in the middle four with Macca playing just in front of the four. A 4 2 3 1 when attacking.

Clearly this guys got something for Aston Villa to sign him from Arsenal in January and immediately send him on loan to a Championship side at 18.
From what I’ve seen in the last two games, Mola will be a great centre back in a back 5, so it’s nice to have wingback options now when playing that system.

He was 19 already when he signed for Plymouth. He didn't work out there, but it is a higher level and hopefully he had learned from it.

He’s got 7 more EFL games all at a higher level than Bilongo and it makes sense we have those two as the left options if Anthony, like Ellison, is a long term project who needs loan experience below L1 to round out their skill set. Glad Villa still see us as an appropriate club to trust their talented youngsters with.

I've not seen any suggestions Anthony is going to be loaned out, given that we've been crying out for wingers it'll be an odd move to now loan out the one we've finally signed. Assuming MT plays 4-4-2 regularly this season then who's going to play LW one we need to rest Sinclair?

Mola also looked a decent LB last night, I can never understand the obsession with making FB's into CB's, JB managed to ruin Hoole's Rovers career doing similar.

Assuming MT plays 4-4-2 regularly this season then who's going to play LW one we need to rest Sinclair? Suggest you read Dan Hargreaves article in Bristol Live 9th August part of which says: “So now we're excited that he's responsible and then can we get the ball in good attacking areas? He's still young, so he'll go into that development bracket, very similar to a Dan Ellison-type in terms of his age. "So, he might need a little bit of time if he's not immediately affecting the first-team pitch in the first six months of his time we might assess a loan situation, but another player who's earned this opportunity and he's really hungry for success and opportunity." Anthony is the 13th summer arrival of a busy window for the Gas with further signings expected and has been secured in time to be in contention to make his debut against Northampton Town in the 2024/25 curtain raiser on Saturday, although if he makes the matchday squad, he’s likely to be on the bench.” Now stop coming on here posting like yours is the only truth and give credit to some of the other posters on here whose contributions deserve respect.

This signing can free bilongo to play further up on the left wing if we play 4 at the back and left side of front 3.
Just need to get rid of Jevani Brown and get a 4th choice forward for the future and our business is done.
Hall can be bench keeper if we have Jed Ward on a recall clause.
