As for the blame directed at Hall its completely unjust, first goal was a worldie second goal could have done better but so could have the other three players before him and the last one he was completely abandoned. We all know Hall wont play but the bloke deserves a break on his debut. Without naming who he referred too the manager accepted that the YOUNG PLAYERS (except Shaw) showed they were not ready for 1st team selection. Strikers are rated by the number of goals scored. No goal no good even if you"played" well! Keepers are rated by the clean sheets kept? Whether that's due to saves made or the defence protecting the goal in front by blocking shots. Lets analyse a few points on Hall's game last night. This was almost certainly the highest game he has ever played and been tested in? I thought he made some decent saves! His distribution was poor several times and his kicking let him down occasionally (see goals comment) Spurs scored several sublime goals most keepers might have had trouble with, but was he properly protected by the Gas defence? 1st Goal there was a clear foul on a rovers player not given which left the defence exposed and whilst a great goal where was the cover to protect Hall? (defensive error?) 2nd goal he was beaten at the near post at a very tight angle (keeper error?) but Shaw was very slow to defend and just ambled out to stop the cross, was static whilst the Spurs player waltzed past him to score. (defensive error?) 3rd goal. Hall took an attacking free kick high up the pitch that went straight to Spurs who then had an empty goal to score. (keeper error) The above comments might suggest only the 3rd goal was Halls fault.

Kinda, agree i'd also add that whilst the third goal started with a poor kick, it was 3 on 1 when the ball was in the net.

Of course it was 3 on 1 when they scored their 3rd. Hall kicked the ball 10 yards directly to their player when our whole team is at the box waiting for him to launch it up there. It was an inexcusable mistake you can't make at the 1st team level

Just watched the extended highlights on Youtube - it actually reminded me of a lot of the A-League games we get here in Australia (the top tier). Fairly open, chances created, obviously a Premier League or Championship team would beat either team 9 times out of 10 just due to being organised better, without even taking into account individual skill levels...
...but it was watchable as a viewer and the really important thing is what our players and coaches took out of it - as long as we take positives away from it then (dare I say it) I'm slightly warming to the competition again, even though I firmly believe the U21 teams shouldn't be in it...

How does the points system work in this cup ? 3 for a win, 2 for a penalty win draw, 1 for a penalty loss draw and 0 for a loss.

Pleased to hear MT praising young Kofi Shaw & saying he’s in contention for the Stockport match, I thought he was quality & mature above his age in the Plymouth friendly, hope he’s stays around the first team squad & we persist with his development & don’t let him leave the club like we did with Harvey Greenslade who I see scored the winner for Yeovil last night.

No disrespect to Greenslade , but shaw is completely different in his progress and is definitely are brightest prospect we’ve had in years and the only way I see him leaving is a prem/championship team paying money for him so I’d try and tie him down to a long term contract.

Exeter beat Swindon to top the group. Rovers now third in the table.
Win the last two games (in normal time) and we qualify.
With such a strong squad, we could see quite a strong line up in the next match, plus chances for Hall, Lawrence, Ellison, Shaw and Dewsbury.

Exeter beat Spurs u21 (not featuring their two best players).
Gonna have to win both remaining games, I suspect if we are to progress.

Typical Gaschat.
We win a game in the EFL Trophy and it's, we don't care about this competition.
Given a chance to use the EFL Trophy as a way to bash the team/manager/owners then it's an important competition.

Both winnable games……let’s not forget we are unbeaten so far in this comp. I might even buy a cup final suit and book my flights and accommodation 🏆

I noticed that Harvey Vale scored twice for Chelsea Academy in an away win at Bromley.

All I ever ask of the EFL Trophy group stages is that we give minutes to those who need them.
If we happen to qualify for the KO stages then great, but it's not super important IMO. I certainly wouldn't want to risk the "better" players in this competition - definitely not in the early stages.
Not that I go to any of these games anyway and I never will while they include Premier League/Championship U21/U23 teams.
