Every time I go to predict the line up, I struggle to know where to play Luke.
I personally think he’s wasted as a wing back, but it seems our preferred formation. Not sure he’s a number 10, or strong enough to play off Promise?
I really like him as a player, gives his all, just thinking he might not have ever cemented his true position and might be one to be sacrificed if we usually play 3-5-2?

When he was at Barnsley he regularly played at No 10 and looked fairly decent, not sure why he's never really been tried in that role for us for an extended run, he just seems wasted at RWB.

If you’re getting this off Fotmob, It says “compared with other full backs”…..which probably tilts the nos a little…. No idea why….. But 2 games is way too small a sample size to mean anything anyway.

V interesting statistic. My feeling has always been that LT could be devastating IF he just developed confidence to finish more himself.

Is it him or is it because he’s being asked to develop his defensive side? Is he a natural winger? I just feel no manager has ever really found his natural position? UTG

Antony seems like a natural winger and he's a totally different player to LT, I can't see LT ever been a good WB, rather than just a make shift one, as doesn't have the ability to tackle like a WB/FB. LT's natural position seems to me to be one similar to Billy Bodin's.

UTG I don’t like us playing a back three as it more often than not results in a back five and blunts us as an attacking force. Should be playing four at the back imo with Luke Thomas playing the attacking wide right position in either a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3.

But last season his stats were judged in the 'attacking midfielder/winger' category and his 7 assists were better than 89.8% of his positional peers. Plus, his Successful Passes were in the top 93.5% percentile ranking and Chances Created in the top 86.1% percentile ranking.

Number 10 role, give Kofi Shaw a go on the right wing.

An attacking role either at CAM or at RW He should only play at RWB when senior is injured or MT wants to give kofi shaw a chance in a league game

Are you for real? It’s been two bloody games!!! He may be 5th on chances created but he takes corners and there are 17 other players who could create 2 chances by half time on Saturday and overtake him!! 2nd for big chances yeah……but he’s on 2, the same as 7 others and just one ahead of 49 others!!! Joint 6th for xA? Yeah 0.6….at his current rate over the next 10 games he’s due one more assist than 9 others!!! 2 games is not where we judge quality or productivity. Granted last season his nos were relatively productive but they weren’t stand out. And when I say nos….actual goals and actual assists….not X this or X that.

Luke Thomas would be my first name on the team sheet every day of the week. He gets into probably 20 of the 24 teams in league one starting 11. He isn't perfect and finishing isn't his strong point but we have to find a way of getting the best out of him.

Great player that can do a good job in several positions and I'm happy for him to be used- winger, wing back or 10.
This Saturday I'd be tempted to pair him with Hutchinson in one of the two 10s we appear to play, but sense it's RWB with Kofi in?

So would I but we haven’t been playing with two 10s we’ve used Macca / Sinclair / Sotiriou alongside Promise with just one 10.

Before you interjected, I was originally responding to the poster who said he should be "benched" and "been poor this season and back end of last season" and "doesn’t deserve to start". Even if it's 2 games, the early numbers show that to be nonsense and the same for the "back end of last season" too where he created the assist for the only goal of the game vs Cambridge in a MOTM display and 2 assists vs Cheltenham in another MOTM display.
