You just look at the list of pages on the match day thread. Win and it is always shorter. Lose and all the negative unrealistic keyboard warriors like you come out of your hole. So zero proof certain posters only post when we lose, just losses generate more discussions. Not sure what's unrealistic about expecting a well supported L1 side to score the occasional away goal and pick up the odd away win. There is a life away from this forum you know, sometimes you get sunshine and everything! Get out more. There’s so much more to life than waiting for the next Rovers calamity so that you can lay into your keyboard. I await the next win and seeing you post as much as you do when we lose and it all goes wrong. Enjoy life and lower your blood pressure.

Three games in and I really cannot see where the goals are going to come from. We can’t rely on clean sheets every week. I’m not sure what Promise’s game is. He doesn’t strike me as a fox in the box type, he doesn’t hold it up and I’m yet to see him take on a defender. It’s early days and there were glimpses against Northampton but I don’t know what he is yet. Soteriou was poor today in my opinion and added very little to the performance. It's funny how different fans see it. I really like Promise. He is a breath of fresh air. He is being played in a position where he didn't play much last season, so the goal scoring record from last season is irrelevant. I honestly believe that he will end up being a Rovers legend, he has pace, power and anyone who watched the game yesterday saw that their keeper and defence sh@t themselves when he chased them down. The goals will come.

Greetings true Bristolians. County fan in peace. 1st thing, credit to your support. Great numbers for a game that was on t.v. horrible early k.o. & a fair old trek. It's one of the best things about being back in the football league, playing proper clubs with proper support. It helps to erase the memories of our days in the NLN playing teams like Brackley who once brought 7 fans.....& they all sat apart! As for the game, I thought we looked a little bit sloppy & lethargic at times in the 1st half. You were hard to break down & largely nullified our attacking threat I was also worried we were going to do something stupid at the back & gift you a goal. Then Louie Barry does what Louie does best & scores a screamer, 3 in 3 for the lad now & all been great strikes, but up to that point I was hoping we could get to H.T. at 0-0 & that Dave Challinor would give our lot a bit of a kick up the backside. 2nd half I thought we were better & reasonably comfortable after getting the 2nd goal. We're not at full strength due to injuries at the moment but have signed some exciting players & when we got possession & got the ball on the floor I thought we were able to dictate the play far more than we did in the 1st half. You still had chances though & If your front men were just a little bit sharper I think we may have shipped a goal at least. I thought out of the three teams we've played so far in league 1 you were definitely a sterner test than Cambridge or Blackpool. I know it's hard to be positive after a defeat but you'll be o.k. a bit more precision up top & you'll get your fair share of wins. As for us, Still pinching myself at the start we've made. We're notoriously slow starters so this is highly unusual for us. Despite our recent upturn in fortune in the last few seasons being a County fan carries a sort of ingrained pessimism so I'm half expecting the wheels to fall off at any minute! but at the moment the table makes for pleasant reading from our perspective. Realistically though a lot of us would be more than happy with a top half finish/being in contention for the play offs. Best of luck for the rest of the season & looking forward to making the reverse trip to your place 👍 Thanks for taking the time to come on here and give us an unbiased view of how we are/how we played. It’s handy sometimes as it gives a decent perspective other than some on here who think we should be ‘Real Madrid’ straight from the start. I wouldn’t worry about your start being a flash in the pan, you’ve got some proper quality in there and will probably only get stronger…. Best Regards

I watched some of it in the bar at Stapleton CC where I was umpiring.Truly dreadful. Not one of our players able to put a foot on the ball and pass to another of our players.Ball always in the air. I don't think you watched enough of the game yesterday. In fact, I felt it was the opposite sometimes. Trying to play out of defence and getting caught on the ball. Would have preferred us to lump it up top more.

What is the difference between us and Stockport. I know it's only 3 games in the but why aren't we going to Stockport as favourites or at least not getting beat 2 nil.
I really can't believe they spend more money on the playing squad than we do, or maybe they have and I am wrong? Perhaps they are continuing their success of last season.
It's seems to be a long standing Rovers tradition going into each season with low expectations and wearing an underdog badge with pride strangely.
Is it financial thing, is it recruitment or is it even the psychology of the club?

The first three will change fairly regularly but the fans have been conditioned to be underdogs...even in recent seasons where we've won promotion we've never done it by leading (pretty much) at any point, we're always the club who puts the results together to make a late surge...

Promoted sides usually do well initially, look at us in our first season back in L1, it's rebuilding the side which is the difficult part, doing that cost both DC & JB their jobs, MT also failed miserably trying to do it at Rotherham.

Was impressed with how Norwood got on the ball with his passing range and dictated the tempo at times yesterday. More touches than Conteh and Ward combined. How we miss that type of presence in midfield. Different class.

My God I agree with Topper Gas!! Yes the difference is that Dtockport ,like Wrexham came in on the crest of a wave and I understand with a fair bit of cash input from their owners but at present have a huge advantage over us because when you get promotion you tnd to be able to keep most pf your players whereas we needed a total rebuuild. Defensively i think that rebuild has gone very well but attacking wise not so convinced. I like Promise and think he will do well BUT i think that amount of money could have got us one of the top strikers around in the lower divisions and that is what we still lack. There is also the pressing game which I am not sure that Chris Martin is really going to excel at. We seem to have ended up with a n unbalanced side with far more defensive options than attacking options which is why we still need two more attacking players to give us a balanced squad. How much money we have left I dont know . Personally I feel playing with wing backs severly cuts down our real attacking options and really makes LT ineffective. Sometimes its better to have two full backs and four midfielders with Luke Thomas not so important in the defensive side of things. Overall i think the Manager and Friend have done pretty well and we are definitely much better IMO even at the moment before they have geled. I woul;d like to see Jevani Brown given a final chance because I dont believe such a good player can really go bad though I dont know what he has done in the close season to be totally left out to dry. I suppose we might find out soon!!

Yes we would all like that, but presumably he will be on a very, very good wage and probably wouldn't want to travel a long way from his family. We have generally brought in younger players to learn and develop. What did Ollie say he didn't want "instant coffee" (ie older players) as the side only last for 18 months and then you have to rebuild. I think it is a 2-3 season plan, with gradual progress and a bit of tinkering in the next few windows rather than wholesale changes like we have been used to seeing each season.

Another frustrating display, started well then as at Rotherham seemed to lose our way & let our opponents dictate play, frustrating the number of times Stockport crossed the ball to the far post for Horsfall to head back into our box & it was no surprise when they scored from one. Still early days & no midweek game, so a full week on the training ground to prepare for our home game against Cambridge who were involved in a 8 goal thriller yesterday, & after watching their highlights, their defence looks pretty suspect, let’s hope we can exploit it.

How we miss that type of presence in midfield. Different class. In the last 5 seasons Norwood has played 100 games in the premier League and 100 games in the Championship…. He’s 33 has topped 500+ games and this is the lowest level of football he’s ever played at…. He’s also joined a team who play out from the back in a settled pattern and style for a manager who’s been at the club for 3 seasons. Not really a great comparison is it.

Dave Challinor is ultimatly the reason County are flying high , you can have all the best players around , but with a dud gaffer in charge , you get nowhere.
Just look at his win percentage at all clubs , around the 50% mark , plus promotion at every club he's been .
Would have loved us to poach him after JB , but not to be.

The signing of the summer, VFM wise, in L1?
