Let’s forget about Stockport and dust ourselves down and look forward to welcoming Cambridge Utd to the Mem . A home win and it’s a reasonable start to the season, 7 points from 12 after a couple of tricky fixtures. Defeat and the gloomsters will be out in force and the first calls for Taylor’s head no doubt.
Went to Cambridge away last season , bloody dire performance. Let’s hope for something better . Come on you blues !

Don't think Gibbons or Loft feature in their starting eleven currently.

Josh Stokes will need to be kept quiet for Cambridge. Came off the bench at half time to make an impact vs Blackpool. Dangerous player who links things nicely between midfield and attack. A game we should be winning though. 🤞

The U's have shipped 9 goals in four , not to mention 6 v Colchester pre season. Monk's magic dosn't seem to be working atm.
Basically if we dont score Saturday , we never will. Gas win for me .

Not sure about that.
He didn’t score, he didn’t assist and he created zero chances in 45 mins.
He’d be getting pelters if he played for us!

Cambridge have a strong squad and also have lofty and gibbons Honestly have no idea what the starting line up will be but it should be a strong team Hoping for lots of turnstiles being turned! UTG

And if he’d played exactly the same way and it had stayed 4-1 he’d have been slaughtered with the rest of the squad. Thats the football fans way. Emotionally driven by a result as opposed to objectively driven by a performance. Perfectly normal. Same at every club.

Or alternatively they watched him come on at halftime with his side 4-1 down and witnessed an impressive and impactful 45 minute display and their comments reflected that. Within seven minutes of coming on he wins the ball back in opposition half and drives forward to the edge of the box where he is fouled for the free kick that is converted to make it 4-2. Starts the move to make it 4-3 by intercepting a loose ball by defender and then playing the 'second assist' for third goal. Total Touches 32, Shot Accuracy: 1/1, Passes into Final Third: 3, Accurate long balls: 2/2, Tackles won: 2/3, Duels won: 5/7. Looks a decent display to me.

As I say the scoreline influences perception. Always. Hutchinson Saturday ….. taken off after an hour and general view is disappointed fans suggesting a poor signing…. Touches - 36 Pass completion - 70% Chances created - 2 Passes into final third - 4 Accurate long balls - 3 Tackles won - 1 Recoveries - 4 Duels won - 3 Thomas - played a full 90 but also generally regarded as pretty poor but stats look pretty impressive to me…. Touches - 50 Pass completion - 62% Chances created - 2 Passes into final third - 5 Tackles won 3 Recoveries - 10 Duels won - 5 Only emphasises how you can make stats look better than maybe they were… Josh stokes is ok but not a player I fear….but my point is over and above anything else….in respect of the fan comments…..is individual performances will always be seen far more favourably if the team result is positive…. That’s pretty normal

Of course the scoreline influences perception, especially when one player comes on at 4-1 down to have a hand in two goals and playing a huge part with his general play in helping his side get back to 4-4. Always. 😆🤣

Which proves my point perfectly.
Stokes could’ve played exactly the same way and still lost 4-1 and all he did would’ve gone pretty much unnoticed.
He wins the ball back to start a counter attack that comes to nothing because the player he gave the ball to gave it away…..the free kick is blazed miles over the bar…..the “second assist” isnt a second assist because either the actual assist is messed up or the finish is saved….
Same input from Stokes…scoreline stays 4-1….fans uproar and talk of the manager being clueless 🤣🤣
I said it Saturday….
Taylor Moore scores a simple header….Bilongo taps in at the far post…Promise takes the ball on the half turn for a 1on1 and scores….
Hutchinsons input is exactly the same but now has 3 assists and creativity problems are a memory…and Taylor is a genius with 7 points from 3 games…
Fine lines eh…
😜😜

Gotta change it up Saturday play a 4 at the back and play with proper wingers (LT) Griffiths Moore Wilson Taylor Mola Thomas Ward Conteh Anthony New striker Promise Although an understandable reaction I don’t think MT will change the system. Mola made his first mistake so far for the first by not dealing with a boot up field and the second, no one marking Wootton. I think MT will stick with his back 3 and perhaps change personnel in midfield and attack. MTs building his own team with his own style and he’ll give it time. In the long run he needs to win matches and that will be more about the right players in his system. I think MT and possibly the owners will have more patience than some of the fanbase. His worry is probably more about being overrun in midfield in both our away matches and struggling to create many chances. Whilst I’m optimistic for the season and defensively we look stronger in the team and in reserve I’m not sure that can be said about our strikers, which has been a recurring theme. But they have been against two of the better teams and not all teams will be as good as Stockport or Rotherham. A win on Saturday will turn what’s been a decent enough start into a very good start. A loss and …. UTG!

GRIFFITHS
MOORE WILSON MOLA
SENIOR CONTEH WARD BILONGO
SHAW
SOTORIOU OMICHERE
Thomas for Senior if injured.
Is Lindsay injured? Maybe him for Ward
Either way, I’d like to see Shaw given a go, in a position where he’s given free rein to run at defenders and create some excitement. We look ok, but do we have the flair and the players to open teams up?
Players to get old men like me off their seats!!
Think this will be another nervy game, but I agree with above poster, we must be patient and allow this team to grow.

Cambridge seem to have issues defending set pieces, hopefully that continues!

Agree we will stick to the back 3 but can put Moore at RB mid game if we need to change it. I'd bring Garrett and Shaw in (for Ward and Martin) to try and do more in the middle. Hutch Shaw and Thomas behind Omochere

Hutch Shaw and Thomas behind Omochere Garrett has been the most disappointing of all our new signings in my opinion. Offers nothing and doesn't look interested. I don't know whether he's showing up any better in training, but based on his perfomances in matches he probably doesn't even deserve a place on the bench.
