The main thing is Rovers are getting points on the board while the players are continuing to get used to each other and gel! Yes, absolutely agree. Some will be upset that they can't continue their anti MT agenda. I remind them, it's a marathon not a sprint. I'm glad that some of that toxicity from last season has been suppressed. Note I chose my words carefully as it hasn't gone away. As I said before. My expectations this season is bedding in the players, we then have four transfer windows to tweak the squad. To then be ready for the 'big push' season (26/27?).

Absolutely agree, a mass change in squad and 7/12 points with 3 clean sheets.
I don't think there is one gashead who wouldn't have taken that at the start of the season.
The next 5 games are a real test and if we can return with 8-10 points again I'll be very happy

My perspective is that we won 2-0 And they forced Griffiths in to only one save. My perspective is that they hit the woodwork 3 times. Had one gone in..... Had they all gone in (was it two or three?) and so did Ruel’s it would have been 3-3 (or 3-2 subject to confirmation). Going to be glass half full and I went home happy, many more positives than negatives for me, of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion 😉

First game in 1,659 days. A weird experience!
Luke Thomas, superb. You can see he has flaws in playing that position but his work rate and damn right refusal to be beaten was superb. A fantastic performance. Defensively solid, we won’t concede many with that backline. Griffiths looks a great pick up, dominated his area and his distribution is great. One superb save first half as well. You can see there’s a lot of work in progress, Omochere feels like a player that can go from Maradona to Justin Richards and back in seconds but that’s why he’s with us. Overall positive.

On the flip side an MT team finally put in a decent performance and we won a game convincingly. Until MT made the subs late on there only ever looked one winner, even then SS was unlucky not to make it 3-0. You sense most of us would have taken the 7pts from the first 4 games at the start of the season.. Well that’s kind of my point. It was a great result but it really wasn’t a great performance at all other than we played a team who were much much weaker than what we’d faced before and so we enjoyed more success doing pretty much the same thing. Agree 7 it’s from 4 games is a pretty solid start though. Pretty much how I saw yesterday's game .. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it was my grandsons first ever Rovers game so they gave him a memory that will last forever. This is a work in progress, I'm extremely encouraged about what this team can go on and produce.

Just got back ..
What a day!? In the sun, enjoyed a rasher, before a nice 10.43am start in Town, then up the Road for some more reprobate shenanigans....you got your away days, but nothing wrong with a home day too.
Even tried to convince a Sith to join us, but the dark side was too strong in him! No worry! .... anyways, the Tour continued nonetheless.
Anyhoos, onto less important matters:
How big was that no 29 right back for Cambs? Their manager has some work to do. If we had let in those kinds of goals, the defensive set up left a lot to be desired and our 2 goals derived from their loss of possession in key areas, I would've been so disappointed. It's only a matter of time before their manager will get a right mouthful....not a mouthful of Gary Monk, the other type.
The day that opened Promise goal scoring account came (nice, against Gary Monk!), and good luck to him, but you couldn't but help to admire the build up assist quality in LT and Billyongo with their perfectly weighted passes...
Promise with his back to goal is arguably as strong as his front. Really enjoyed watching his input, bringing others into the game with his football awareness and vision. Nice knock there, well deserved m o m.
My near m o m was Like Thomas. Fantastic defence work as well as assist, and an assist to an assist, he covered some ground and would be one of my first inclusions in starting line up.
Really liked Ruel today.... it's the first time I've seen him have positive impact and unlucky to hit post.
Garrett caught the eye with some ball winning lunges, broke up play and helped with the mid dominance which helped us win this match relatively easily.....so we'll done to Ward and Conteh too.
But for me, again the stability, structure and organisation of the defence, in essence the back 4 of Griffith, Mola, Wilson, Moore is nothing short of a revelation. Certainly in terms of what we've come to see over the last few years of twisting and sticking and twisting again over centre back and full back personnel. We're actually trying to stop crosses and block shots! We're defending higher up at start of matches, and hold the line. We look well disciplined, where every player knows their role, on correct footed positions and cover and track in support of each other.... it's something of a delight to watch - boring for some - but 3/4 clean sheets speaks volumes and of course massive credit to Keeps, just a shame he isn't ours. Never underestimate the importance of this flourish in defence form - it's essential to our 3rd division survival.
I just also want to say, as much as am in admiration of the initial defence form turnaround, we faltered at Stockport. There's still some way to go....also, the support with Bilongo, LT and CT (his clearance from the hit bar yesterday) has to be noted too...
An encouraging start with 100% home record, 2 out of 4 wins ....still loving the Thatch End flag (no euphemism there) and upbeat atmos at the Mem these days. Still more to come, with deadline day signing striker, looks as much promising as, well a Promise (I suppose !) so there's much to look forward to.... UptheGas!

We won well against the worst opposition since Scunthorpe. Those are the kind of games we'll need to win regularly to stay away from the bottom 4.
Everyone was on their game yesterday, but standouts for me were Wilson, Conteh, Garrett, Omochere, Bilongo and Luke.
Onwards to Darrell Town.

First time we’ve kept 3 clean sheets in our first 4 league games since the 1999/2000 season.
Would have snapped your hand off for 7 points from our first four fixtures too.
A great start overall & plenty of room for improvement as well, which is possibly the most exciting thing…

As much as I've extracted the urine before, fair play to you for sticking to your principals and actually coming back when the thing that was stopping you ceased to exist! My pet hate is the moaners on the other forum like Fordingbridge that claimed it was Dunford, followed by the Kevin Spencer ban, followed by Barton etc that was stopping them attending eventhough the real reason is they'd rather sit in their living room cock in hand watching the game on an illegal VPN.

Anyway my main point was it's nice to see Chewbacca not being like that and hope we'll start seeing him at The Mem regularly.

The two away games look tough as we always seem to lose at both grounds but the two home games look winnable, particularly Wyscum now that we seem to have a more physical presence on the pitch. I can't see our back 3 getting roughed up by Low etc.

Need to get some perspective on that today. Cambridge were dire. And I mean dire. They tried to play yeah but they had no physicality, no pace, no ball winners. There was time and space in almost every department and they showed no real fight or desire. MT said that he wanted us to have a little more ability to retain possession in order to help us be more creative, yet despite Cambridge being so poor, they still dominated session with 64% overall, made DOUBLE the amount of complete passes, had a higher xG, made more passes on the oppositions half and hit the woodwork twice. Now while I know as well as anyone else here that most of that means bugger all of you don’t stick the ball in the net so I’m not disputing the validity of the result, but we should be very careful when the underlying information shows we actually played no differently to Stockport away, Rotherham away or Northampton at home, but just came up against opposition who were nowhere near as good and so we enjoyed more success with our own contributions. 3 shots on target and 2 went in…1 of them a little fortuitously. Which isn’t much different to previous games in terms of output if not outcome. I’m not dismissing the result or putting a dampener on it I’m just saying perspective and context is important if measuring the performance behind the result. I think you're looking for the type of performance you're not likely to get under MT. Personally, I'm glad about that. We all know from past experience that possession means absolutely nothing unless you're creating chances and scoring goals. The fact is, until we changed half the team in the second half and Cambridge threw caution to the wind towards the end, it was a good performance. There really was only one team that looked like scoring. A bit better finishing or final ball and we could easily have been 3 or 4 up before they rallied in injury time. We had more shots, more shots on target, 26 touches in their box compared to 11 in ours, and most importantly, more goals. Cambridge scored 4 and came back from 3 goals behind last week but they never really looked like getting back in the game yesterday. It wasn't perfect, and Cambridge may well be a team that struggles this season, however it was a good performance and convincing win in my opinion.

The thing i notice is that whenever we win the opposition is " rubbish or poor" and everybody tries to predict how we will do in the next 4 games. It doesn't matter about the next 4 games-it is the next 42 that matter! At this time the only thing that matters is the next game.It seems to me that there are those who want MT to fail and those are ridiculous. MT has created his own squad of players and for me the last two signings are the most important because a team unbalanced with too many defensive players is always going to be a team that will probably be nearer the bottom than the up and therefore really always likely to be in a relegation fight. For me we now have a very balanced squad and at this time I think Matt Taylor and George Friend have done an exceptional job and deserve praise and backing. I was very much in the Barton camp but now I look at our squad and see signs that we are moving forward and it is exciting and should be backed by 10000 plus every week.We cannot consider ourselves as one of the top sides support wise when we cant even make 8000! Before the double signing my heart said 12th and my head says 21st now both head and heart says 12th.UTG

Anyone who doesn't think that was a good performance needs to get their head straight. It seems like there are too many people wanting MT to fail and it's depressing.

No you’re misunderstanding my post completely. it wasn’t about it not being a good performance it was simply saying that it wasn’t any different to previous games in many ways other than the fact that the opposition were much much poorer and therefore we enjoyed more success in the finer margins. If you read my posts following the previous games or even my player ratings you’ll see that I wasn’t as derogatory as many other posters and have been pretty positive all round. For balance ive screenshot many of the match details from Stockport alongside yesterday sand they’re almost identical in pretty much all areas. Fine margins, because the first goal yesterday came from a very similar pass from Thomas into Promise as Hutchinson played into him v Stockport. In this occasion he took a touch goalwards and got a bit lucky whereas last week he stopped the ball and lost the shooting opportunity….
