Well that’s kind of my point. It was a great result but it really wasn’t a great performance at all other than we played a team who were much much weaker than what we’d faced before and so we enjoyed more success doing pretty much the same thing. Agree 7 it’s from 4 games is a pretty solid start though. Pretty much how I saw yesterday's game .. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it was my grandsons first ever Rovers game so they gave him a memory that will last forever. This is a work in progress, I'm extremely encouraged about what this team can go on and produce. Not at all. I’m sure your grandson saw and experienced enough to ensure that he’s a Gas ‘ead forever so great job grandad. Mission accomplished 😉. UTG!

As you can see they’re very very similar so all my point was, was to give some context, the previous game wasn’t really much different in terms of performance other than Stockport were much better than Northampton and of course we managed to finish off a couple of chances.
Overall the performances have all been positive without really being much different, other than the final scoreline.

Obviously Cambridge were crap but it was a very comfortable game for us yesterday.
Very happy for Promise. Hope it's the first brace of many.
I'm enjoying our press and driving forward with the ball from the attackers. We've missed players that can carry for the last few years imo. Seems we have a few to call upon now.
Sterner tests ahead but a good weekend.

I think you're looking for the type of performance you're not likely to get under MT. Personally, I'm glad about that. We all know from past experience that possession means absolutely nothing unless you're creating chances and scoring goals. The fact is, until we changed half the team in the second half and Cambridge threw caution to the wind towards the end, it was a good performance. There really was only one team that looked like scoring. A bit better finishing or final ball and we could easily have been 3 or 4 up before they rallied in injury time. We had more shots, more shots on target, 26 touches in their box compared to 11 in ours, and most importantly, more goals. Cambridge scored 4 and came back from 3 goals behind last week but they never really looked like getting back in the game yesterday. It wasn't perfect, and Cambridge may well be a team that struggles this season, however it was a good performance and convincing win in my opinion. No you’re misunderstanding my post completely. it wasn’t about it not being a good performance it was simply saying that it wasn’t any different to previous games in many ways other than the fact that the opposition were much much poorer and therefore we enjoyed more success in the finer margins. If you read my posts following the previous games or even my player ratings you’ll see that I wasn’t as derogatory as many other posters and have been pretty positive all round. For balance ive View Attachmentscreenshot many of the match details from Stockport alongside yesterday sand they’re almost identical in pretty much all areas. Fine margins, because the first goal yesterday came from a very similar pass from Thomas into Promise as Hutchinson played into him v Stockport. In this occasion he took a touch goalwards and got a bit lucky whereas last week he stopped the ball and lost the shooting opportunity…. Christ When I go to a footie game I go to be entertained and support the team. Yeah I have a moan, yeah I get overly "elated" when we win, but what I don't do is analyse a game to the 'enth degree. During or after. Each to their own I guess. As for yesterday, was it perfect? No of course not, but simply put (with zero detail to support my reaction) I thought our team displayed a not inconsiderable amount of talent and organisation. Not witnessed that for a while.

Football is about ifs and buts. Taylor-Moore misses a great chance, Villa loanee, scores a great goal… Other way round some would be saying fantastic performance. Trouble with some, especially on FB, is lack of balance. We are either the greatest or worst dependent on the result, which is ridiculous….

Agreed. Which was my point in the original match post. I’ve just emphasised it because some seemed to think I was moaning and saying yesterday wasn’t great….when what I was actually saying the other games haven’t been that bad!

First time we’ve kept 3 clean sheets in our first 4 league games since the 1999/2000 season. Would have snapped your hand off for 7 points from our first four fixtures too. A great start overall & plenty of room for improvement as well, which is possibly the most exciting thing… UTG! No smug mention of you correctly predicting the score and scorer on GasCast? Smug? Moi? Pfft! 🫢

First game in 1,659 days. A weird experience! Luke Thomas, superb. You can see he has flaws in playing that position but his work rate and damn right refusal to be beaten was superb. A fantastic performance. Defensively solid, we won’t concede many with that backline. Griffiths looks a great pick up, dominated his area and his distribution is great. One superb save first half as well. You can see there’s a lot of work in progress, Omochere feels like a player that can go from Maradona to Justin Richards and back in seconds but that’s why he’s with us. Overall positive. Did you hold your nose, mixing with a majority (granted gates have unfortunately diminished since the arrival of he who shall not be called into any criticism) people who have actually moved on.

Or you're just back tracking after being called out, forget the stats and look at what you saw with your own eyes, assuming you watched the game, that was a vastly better performance than last week, perhaps getting the goal at the right time or JC stopping Cambridge getting one helped, but whatever it was it was better than last week's. Thomas and Moore were particularly more impressive and the Garrett/Ward combo seemed to work better than the Hutchinson/Ward pairing.

He seems to need 5-6 games to get up to speed. Much better today. To be fair when he is top of his game, he is too good for us. Let's hope he has been pacing himself and the medical team are working their magic to get him to perform at his top level for 20 games a season rather than 5-6 times a season like last season. To be fair, Alex Rodman in the commentary said that it used to take him at least 4 games or so to work up to proper match fitness , so I’m sure Ward will only improve as he gets more minutes LMAO Yeh and then he'd get injured and be out for the season in game 5 😂😂😂

Anyone else walk past the brave Cambridge Fan just outside the gates shouting "yellows, yellows" at the end of the game?

Really good performance from the lads yesterday, we’re along way from the finished article but you can’t fault the workrate from the players to close down & restrict the opponents. Great to see a partnership developing between Promise & Sotiriou, Luke Thomas was superb & must have covered every blade of grass , young Garrett showed glimpses of why he’s so highly rated at Blackburn & all in all a good all round display from all the players. Hopefully we can get something from a difficult match at Darrell Clarkes Barnsley next Saturday & maybe some of the fans who became dissolutioned after the dismal showings at the back end of last season may return.

I didn't realise the Barnsley game, assuming it's not postponed for international call ups, is live on Sky on Saturday.

It’s quite clear what my point is and was and it’s all there for you to read what I’ve said after the Rotherham and Stockport games. Yes I was at the game yesterday and yes it was more impressive but the reason for that is the opposition weren’t as good!! What we did or how we played wasn’t much different we just enjoyed more success in the finer details. Garrett / Ward found life easier yesterday v a very poor side than Hutchinson / Ward did v a very good side! It’s not that difficult. Lots of time and space to play v not much time and space to play 🤣🤣 You said it yourself, the timing of a goal makes all the difference and Taylor Moore putting us a goal up and / or Promise being in on goal instead of stopping it and coming back out is a fine line.
