I didn't realise the Barnsley game, assuming it's not postponed for international call ups, is live on Sky on Saturday. Really? What channel? It doesn’t appear on my Sky Planner. Shows on NOW TV. Assume lot of games can be shown as no prem games at 3.

Just for my nemesis, eric, here's a screenshot confirming it's being shown on Sky Sports+ Assuming the game takes place then I make that 5 out of our first 7 of games have been shown live, no wonder we're struggling to get gates over 8,000 this season.

Must say I am very pleased with the start Rovers have made to the new season. I realise this is largely a very young squad with some experienced players to help them along. Obviously there will be indifferent results, but if the players give their all while learning, the club will make good progress! Supporters from clubs in higher divisions may well mock third tier football, but the reality is this league is very tough and for most, difficult to get out of.

That did make me laugh. For someone who tries to create arguments left right and centre on here you seem to get flustered when someone questions you. FWIW I’ll be well pleased if you’re right and the game is live - seems I’m not the only person really surprised that 3pm ko games are being shown.

As has been mentioned elsewhere, Saturday 3PM on international weekends are able to be televised. Even without any kick off changes from 3PM for us, with evening kick offs, international weekends and Bank Holidays we will be on Sky at least 22 times this season so I am not surprised that season ticket sales and crowds are seemingly lower.

Really enjoyed yesterday’s game, I thought our pressing was good and we are beginning to gel as a team with a really strong bench. For me Moore was outstanding as was LT and Promise. There is a lot of potential in this squad so well done GF and MT.

Being on sky doesn't seem to be affecting attendance figures elsewhere so I don't think it's changed ours much at all. Lincoln average 9.5k Blackpool 10k Rotherham 10k Mansfield 8k Peterborough 11k All of these sides we were once much bigger than and got thousands more through the gate than. Attendances across the football league have been on the rise across most if not all clubs for years. Ours have stagnated and are now receding. Either the support base just isn't there for us anymore unless we're going for promotion or sky is only affecting Bristol rovers which I can't believe is true. I said pre season that there appears to be a general apathy about the club for some reason which I believe is affecting attendances. Hopefully if they continue to perform like Saturday those missing supporters may reappear. Sick of saying it but the years of not encouraging the younger generation to come to the mem may finally be having it's desired affect as the older fans leave us and there arnt as many left behind to replace 😪

No you’re misunderstanding my post completely. it wasn’t about it not being a good performance it was simply saying that it wasn’t any different to previous games in many ways other than the fact that the opposition were much much poorer and therefore we enjoyed more success in the finer margins. If you read my posts following the previous games or even my player ratings you’ll see that I wasn’t as derogatory as many other posters and have been pretty positive all round. For balance ive View Attachmentscreenshot many of the match details from Stockport alongside yesterday sand they’re almost identical in pretty much all areas. Fine margins, because the first goal yesterday came from a very similar pass from Thomas into Promise as Hutchinson played into him v Stockport. In this occasion he took a touch goalwards and got a bit lucky whereas last week he stopped the ball and lost the shooting opportunity…. Christ When I go to a footie game I go to be entertained and support the team. Yeah I have a moan, yeah I get overly "elated" when we win, but what I don't do is analyse a game to the 'enth degree. During or after. Each to their own I guess. As for yesterday, was it perfect? No of course not, but simply put (with zero detail to support my reaction) I thought our team displayed a not inconsiderable amount of talent and organisation. Not witnessed that for a while. "not inconsiderable." I`m guessing you`re a Private Eye reader, going back to at least the mid 90s.

After two home games in the summer it's really too early to suggest Sky isn't affecting attendances, lets see what it's like in the winter, I'm surprised how many Rovers games are being shown as by Saturday evening it could be 5 out of the first 7 games. Given the general apathy this summer our attendances are holding up well as we're virtually bang on last season's average and neither opponents have hardly been attractive sides to watch or have big followings so far this season.

The amount of home fans at our home have was 7943 and 7504, which isn't that low. Both the teams we played, brought a low amount of fans. I just looked and near the end of last season a few away sides brought over 1300 fans. If that was the case now, we would be looking at around a 9000 average attendance and more gas heads would have turned up, if it was a more glamorous tie.

In theory, it doesn't matter who we play as fans should turn up and support against anyone and everyone but unfortunately, it does happen and the first 2 games have not been "glamorous" on paper against some of the weaker teams in the division who also didn't bring many fans. Added to that the summer holidays and many people being away, I think there is a lot more to it than the games being shown on Sky.
Let's judge after a few months after school holidays are over and when we have had a mixture of bigger and smaller clubs come to the Mem.

Would comparing with the equivalent stage (second home game or whatever) over the previous season or more, be a better comparison.

I would say that is very comparable and I don't think Sky televising some games have massively effected us as of yet.
