Yes I watched the game but I did leave my rose tinted specs at home to be fair. It was a one sided close game as you’ll see. They weee streets ahead of us. I have no idea what our plan is, what our style is or what we’re hoping to do other than rely on some individual moment or lucky break. Barnsley tore us to bits and only sat off and stayed deep once they were in control. They could still have scored 3 more on the break with slightly better decision making which didn’t even require a save from Griffiths. They were streets ahead in the first 20, but not after that. This team will grow, and I’m very surprised you cannot see a plan. It may not be one you like, but I believe if we stick with it, we will see more wins, than losses, and I can only see this team getting stronger in the next couple of seasons. Here’s hoping. Ps remove the dark glasses I don’t see a plan at the moment at all. We have a GK who’s been MoM 4/5 and we concede 16-18 shots on goal a game yet laud our defensive work and load the team with players with no flair. We recruited for 352 but left the only natural wing back out the side for every league game til he got injured v Tottenham and spent 6 figures on a player who averaged a goal involvement ever other game over the last 100 EFL games (and who has the same ratio here btw) on the bench when we’re a goal down….while still playing players with a history of underachieving. I said last week we have picked a midfield that will have a combined goal tally of 3-5 by end of season but don’t have a 20 goal a season striker….how many games does that win you? |

I called it last week when Cambridge had nearly double our possession and double our passes completed. If you keep giving the ball away and play against a half decent side you’re gonna get punished. I agree you have to be able to mix it up but if you can’t retain possession for more than 2 seconds you’re gonna invite pressure. Our chance creation has to be the worst in the whole league. |

Exactly this and I was as shocked to see MT getting too carried away with how much better it apparently was last week as I was some fans. To me all he was doing last week was patting himself on the back knowing no one would question it after a win.

MT, like JB last season, seems to have got decent backing from the board but we still don't look any closer from moving from a bottom side to a top 10 side. We all knew Ward wasn't going last many games before he picked up an injury but we don't seem to have signed an obvious replacement, neither Garrett or Hutch looks like obvious No 8's, Garrett was virtually invisible today and Hutch already seemingly out of favour. |

MT's admitted a far few were signed solely by GF/the VP, he admitted he wasn't even aware we were signing Forde. Although anybody can sign good sounding players it's getting them to play which is the issue. |

MT's post match comments, like a few on this thread he seems to have been watching a different game:
"We’ve took a play-off team to the wire, if not more today," Taylor said post-match. "There’s not much in that game. They were the better team for the first 20 minutes but from that point on I was really pleased with our performance.
It's worrying if he really was pleased with that performance?

I think if Ward is injured and with Conteh back, he has to go with Conteh behind Garrett and Hutchinson, who played as an 8 last season not a 10. I have no idea what Hutchinsons done but to sign him for what we did and with his goal record, to not even throw him on today at 2-1 seemed odd to me. Does MT have trouble with players of this ilk? Macca / Brown for example? |
