Well, I was looking forward to being able to catch the train from keynsham, but that service is pathetic. Whilst getting there looks ok, getting home means, either leaving early to get the 17:12 or waiting until 17:55 and hoping I can get on that, which will get to keynsham at 18:50. Very disappointing and simply not going to work for me. Let’s hope there are plans to improve alongside the stadium redevelopment, but until then it’s going to be the car for me. I wouldnt have thought the 17:55 will be that long a wait. Games finish later nowadays, so it gives you time to have a swift half in the bar before a stroll down the road. An hour to Keynsham seems very excessive though. Yes, it’s not so much the time it leaves Ashley down, as the fact it’s probably the only viable option. If I can’t get on that for any reason, then it’s probably another hour until the next one. It would just be nice if they’d put on a few extra trains to cater for football supporters, even if that was a shuttle service to temple meads/parkway and back. Early days though and hopefully that will happen in the near future🤞

It is a bit like a Rovers pub in the sense that it’s a football pub except it isn’t a Rovers pub, it’s instead dedicated to a football club 400 miles away rather than the one 400 yards away. It closed down for a bit - result of Covid possibly - then reopened as a Brexit pub. Changed hands again recently, I believe.

If coming from Yate, does that mean got to go in via Temple Meads, or can I switch at Filton AW? The trainline isn't publishing any routes yet.

Very disappointing that with the change it still takes 40 mins from parkway to Ashley down www.southwesternrailway.com/train-times/yate-to-ashley-down

Don't even know where the station is. Where is the entrance/exit? Just off Muller Rd where it crosses the rail line. About a 20 min walk to the ground either up Muller Rd or via Ashley Down Road/Gloucester Rd I think it’s actually Station Road?! Used to be there before they closed it.

Lazy Dog and or Foresters welcomes you... If you need to dodge showers (obviously!) Used to be another called ship o ground further away, but that's been closed a year or two.. Wow!, Ship o’ Ground, only closed a few years back!, my oh my. My last visit to the Ship (1979) on a match day ended with a brawl between locals and football fans. I remember in the commotion the landlord shouting ‘There is no need to throw chairs, to which somebody shouted ‘There is every need to throw chairs’….was funny at the time. Place was always frosty for a visit I recall, less than inviting, not a surprise really.

Does anyone know if there are plans to run direct trains from Parkway to Ashley Down at some stage, as I don't think it will be possible when the station opens? I couldn't see anything about it on various websites, but I have no local knowledge these days after living in London for 40 years. I'd rather get the London train to Parkway rather than Temple Meads.
But I'm keen to try the train when the station opens.

It's a shame that it is only an hourly service at present, perhaps if trains on match day are full and standing then GWR will stop some of the other services to fill the need. £8.90 from Weston, an hour journey, though 20 minutes change over at Temple Meads time for a drink or 2 pre-match, the 17.55 ideal for a swift post match drink and home by 7pm. Cheaper than driving, ability to have a drink and no searching for that elusive parking spot. Happy days, see you on the platform on the 28th!

Careful monitoring of travel numbers will occur in the coming months.
The timing and frequency of trains stopping at Ashley Down station will be adjusted to meet the level of use demonstrated.
Supporters who want to use the service long term need to start using it regularly.

😁😁😁😁 For the love of sweet Penelope Cruz, do you not see the irony in your answer? Are you genuinely saying that there's no bigotry among the Celtic fanbase? Cough. 🏴🏴☠️

Big local news at the time and turned it into a clicky pub for those who didn't frequent there much....then into a ghost pub so no wonder it closed. A shame. Huge potential..

I was hoping there would be a direct train to Ashley Down from Bath, but sounds like that's wishful thinking.

It was just a normal boozer, it was ran by the same landlady who used to have The Vic before that closed down.
