Matt Taylor on BBC radio Bristol Having a Gas tonight saying squad will be reduced as those who underperformed are not going to be involved in the future. They let him.and fans down against Tottenham Swindon and Cheltenham matches. Hall called third choice keeper. I reckon Thomas is on his way out no more excuses just not league one standard.

Well it’s him or them for the chop , so you can’t blame him calling them out as they have underperformed massively. Obvs his detractors won’t agree but for now I’m siding with him.

JB got slaughtered for publicly criticising individual players now MT has thrown virtually the entire second string under the bus, are players like Thomas, Hutchinson, Garrett and Shaw really that bad they now have to train alone? What is anybody gaining calling Hall a No 3 goalie, when it seems he was brought in solely to be our No3 anyway?
The question for the owners must be why are young players under performing and can the afford to pay up to half a dozen players to train alone, although I'm not sure PFA rules allow that anyway.

Hang on, Belshaw seeked professional counselling, Westbrooke was destroyed, Ehmer was, Thomas called an idiot, Trev Clarke given a deal the day before and then told he can’t trust him……….MT never mentioned a name, he just collectively said it. I’ve said I don’t thinking he needed to say and do it how he did but let’s not compare him to wife beater.

JB did it when it wasn’t deserved. With players he chose to sign. Calling out LT vs pboro for example. I sense MT is also doing this so prospective employers can see this is not his squad. JB on the other hand had full control under Wael. Either way, management issues or ownership issues. What’s there to enjoy about Rovers these days

Personally I thought the players deserve to be criticised on both occasions. Like it or not this is MTs squad, just like it was at Rotherham

Like it or not this is MTs squad, just like it was at Rotherham Pretty certain MT was content to take the praise for all the signings in the summer, apart from Bilongo he seem to accept he'd either identified them or persuaded them to sign, although what does it say about him if he just sat at home and let the VP/GF just sign players without his approval. As far as prospective employees who's going to want to employ somebody who's failed in his last two jobs after being given seemingly decent backing? Like BG he'll probably finish up somewhere like Colchester.

Westbrooke & Ehmer were destroyed by BG & PT well before JB's time he just confirmed what we all knew, Thomas accepted he was an idiot, not sure what went on with TC but he's clearly got issues of some kind given what has gone on with him back in his home land. At least JB dealt with individuals, most of whom weren't signed by him, who could easily be replaced MT's throw an entire team under the bus having overseen their signings a few months ago, the treatment of Hutchinson is plain odd after we must have spent £500K+ on his transfer/budget package this summer.

A bit saying a side were not up to it, to saying individuals need to man up, are not wired right and other similar comments. I expect he's trying to give them a wake up call. They will know that they were not good enough and that they have to do better.

What’s there to enjoy about Rovers these days Barton never criticised any player that didn't deserve it. Lt was an idiot against Peterborough coming out for the second half knowing he was injured and costing us a goal. Belshaw was having an absolute mare and was quite rightly dropped. Collins ducked out of a header whilst captaining the team. A massive no no at any level of football. All deserved to be called out. Wether you agree with the way Barton did it or not is another matter. All of this doesn't add up. There might be one or 2 signed that Taylor didn't agree with but he certainly made out he was happy with the signings made in pre season interviews and at the fans forum. Forde is a quality signing so there will be no criticism from me if that was Abdul who made that one.

But it is a continuation of last season’s performance's, but now with his players and in his words are still “under performing”. !!! The man can’t manage and has no motivation or tactical knowledge worth of note - Taxi!!!! 🚕

This Greece performance tonight is exactly what I thought we would be like this season listening to how Taylor said he wanted us to play.
Pace, energy, workrate, high fast press, structure. Really enjoyable to watch. Everything were not 😄

Every time I listen to that interview I lose a little more respect (from what’s left) for the manager.
Blame shifting.
Blaming fitness….well he constructed the pre season. He put the players through a pre season games programme where barely anyone managed to complete 90 mins. He was still offering game time in the last friendly or two to players who were nowhere near the squad v Northampton when players should’ve been stretching their bodies and completing games by that stage.
He commended the work the squad had done pre season. Said how hard they’d worked and what good shape they were in.
He’s just stated that it wasn’t just Swindon but also performances v Tottenham and Cheltenham that have been the last straw for some….well who?
From Tuesdays game, Shaw, Macca, Thomas, Taylor, Sousa, Donker and Promise didn’t play against Cheltenham, Hutchinson scored and assisted the two goals, Garrett assisted Hutchinson’s goal. So that leaves Hunt, Bilongo, Moore and Hall who played both….did they have no impact or let anyone down?
From the Tottenham game Hall, Taylor Hutchinson and Garrett are the only ones who played v Chelt and Swindon, in that game Hutchinson scored and assisted in that also. Macca who also played Tuesday but he scored v Tottenham.
By deduction the only players to have played all 3 games and not apparently performed would be Hall Garrett and Taylor but Taylor has been a regular first team player and MT himself was falling over himself with superlatives over Garrett in the Cambridge game….
It’s another attempt to apportion blame away from himself. The more I hear the more I despise him. I’m sorry but it’s the worst attempt at management I’ve seen in a long time. Remember this is MANAGEMENT….it involves managing…players and staff, upwards and downwards. Managing their expectations, their manner, their moods, their nuances and like it or not their lives on and off the pitch in and out of the training ground. Support and manage the people. They are after all people.

Although MT was claiming during this pre-season interview that he was heavily involved in recruiting the players: www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/matt-taylor-august-reflections-transfer-window-previewing-september
