Remember the derbies but also supported Clevedon when Chester came down. I took my next door neighbour and he was a Wolves fan but got into local football. Wikipedia says Weston's best FA Cup season was 2003/04, 2nd round, how many other occasions have they made the first round / main draw? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weston-super-Mare_A.F.C. 03/04 was against Northampton away, I think I've still got the programme from that day. They made the first round a few years ago and played Wrexham (before Hollywood money).

Apart from Sutton v Birmingham City & Tamworth v Huddersfield not sure any other fixtures look particularly attractive for live TV coverage so there must be a reasonable chance Rovers game might be chosen, assuming it's 5 live games shown again this season. Northampton vs Kettering and MK Dons vs AFC Wimbledon will be televised as well I expect. Perhaps we’ll sneak in as the 5th game. In reality MK Dons v AFC is now just a bog standard 2nd division game, I doubt if MK fans even get worked up now about playing AFC but no doubt the BBC will be all over it.

My mate’s a Kettering fan, actually he used to play for them. He reckons potential town centre carnage with a high body count.

The draw for the Adobe Women's FA Cup first round proper was made on Monday, with 58 ties scheduled for Sunday 3 November 2024.
Bristol Rovers v Sherborne Town
A double header at The Mem?

Nah man not happy with this draw. If we lose we will never hear the end of this!

Love this! Out of interest, do you find WSM more supporter by gas or city? For some reason I’ve always seen them as a 2nd rovers club, but I guess there’s no reason to believe that. I assume just as much city fans go as rovers?

Don’t expect any Tv for this one unfortunately. So far the bbc only reports the following:
MK Dons will host rivals AFC Wimbledon as one of 40 ties in the FA Cup first round. Elsewhere, League One Northampton Town will play sixth-tier neighbours Kettering Town. The lowest ranked side left in the competition, Hednesford Town, could face Gainsborough Trinity or Boston United at home - but they must win Tuesday's fourth-round qualifying replay against Gateshead first. Seventh-tier side Harborough Town, making an appearance in round one for the first time, will be looking to extend their run after being drawn at sixth-tier Tonbridge Angels. MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon, who are both in League Two, have been rivals since Wimbledon FC relocated to Milton Keynes in 2003 and subsequently changed their name to MK Dons in the summer of 2004. South London side AFC Wimbledon were formed as a phoenix club and have risen through the divisions in the 22 years since they were founded. Meanwhile, League One leaders Birmingham City have an away tie against National League side Sutton United and second-placed Wrexham will face League Two's Harrogate Town. The ties will take place over the weekend of 2 and 3 November.

Can then visit family in Weston, although might be a bit of a nightmare going out if we lose! Don’t want to be the Monday night fixture! UTG

No doubt there will be a good many placing bets on a W-S-M victory for the first round draw. Not at all confident Rovers’ will make it through to the second round!

Problem is, playing for a 0-0 then it goes straight to penalties. Of course we should be aiming to put at least two past them but it's the FA Cup and it's Bristol Rovers in the first round. 🙄

My mate’s a Kettering fan, actually he used to play for them. He reckons potential town centre carnage with a high body count. I grew up in Kettering and was a Poppies fan. Before Kettering had their financial problems the teams were closely matched as the Poppies were top.no league with 3000 regular fans and the rivalry was always fierce. Kettering took on the old Rushden and Diamonds stadium however and that almost killed them off - amongst other things - and they survived by the skin of their teeth. They play at a much lower level now however and in a ground they hijacked from another local side . They are lucky to get crowds of 1,000 and it’s not the same . Doesn’t stop the fans having fun though .

I remember us playing Kettering in the cup in the early 70s. They had a bloke dressed as a monk who went round the greyhound track ringing a hand bell before the game. They got a 1-1 draw before we beat them 2-1 at their place in the replay

Recall a later cup game , late 80's . Lost 2-1 . Sure 'highlights' were on MOTD . City equalised late on at Aldershot (Carl Shutt rings a bell) made for a very grim day !
