Edit:- I just repeated the statement that others had posted.
I am sick and tired of being in any way associated with those ‘fans’ who comfortably send such abhorrent messages

www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/enough-enoughBristol Rovers is infuriated by racist abuse directed at Shaq Forde in the aftermath of Saturday’s Sky Bet League One match at Reading. Shortly after the match an account on Instagram messaged Shaq, the contents of which contained abusive and racist language. Shaq and several other Bristol Rovers players reported the abuse to us and we, in turn, will assist the Police and Meta in their respective investigations. We will always, unequivocally, stand side-by-side with any victim of discriminatory abuse. The Club is committed to educating on the damage that any form of abuse has. Shaq is not the only Bristol Rovers player to receive racial abuse, with an incident under investigation only last week. Even more sickening is that some of these messages come from individuals claiming to be Bristol Rovers supporters. Each time, the Club has sought to act in the appropriate manner. As we made clear in this statement only a few short weeks ago, We will continue to do so. But what is becoming increasingly clear is the same old methods of ‘combating’ racism - the carefully-crafted press releases and saturated social media posts - simply are not working. Enough Is Enough. We are sick and tired of racist behaviour blighting sport. Our players are sick and tired of vile racist abuse that is thoughtlessly shared in response to performances in their job. Our supporters - our real supporters - are sick and tired of being in any way associated with those ‘fans’ who comfortably send such abhorrent messages. We will not tolerate it. To the person who sent Shaq this racist message, and to any person who claims to be a Gashead and engages in similarly deplorable behaviour, we simply say this: You are not a Bristol Rovers fan. You are not welcome at The Memorial Stadium. We do not want your support. Discrimination in any form will not be accepted at Bristol Rovers and we urge all supporters to join us in unison with this message. Enough is Enough. "you are not a Rovers fan" Given the Instagram post came from somebody who apparently lives in Wokingham and seems to have no past connections with the club, then I doubt he ever was one?

I do hope whoever it was who posted this racist abuse was not a fan of the Gas but understand there was more than one. I really despair of the mindset of some of our fans. Young lad joins the club and has to put up with this nonsense. Only yesterday some ITKer posted on here some rumour he had heard about him being a bad egg in the dressing room...why did he do that? He did it to sow division I suspect. Saying he was stupid to get sent off is one thing but to post a slanderous slur is another and I hope the Mods given him a warning.

Wokingham? Isn't that just down the road from Reading?

Fair play to the club. They’ve taken a lot of flack lately, perhaps justified, but that statement is exactly what they should have said.

Wokingham? Isn't that just down the road from Reading? It is but I’m sure not all Rovers fans live in Bristol.

It is but I’m sure not all Rovers fans live in Bristol. True, but there's nothing to link him with Rovers. The idiot probably thought he was being clever targeting a Rovers player, if so, then I doubt he's feeling clever today sweating on a knock on his door from the police.

He was our best player up to his sending off. Hopefully he will not be out for long. I agree. What is frustrating is that, although his reaction was silly, in most games I've watched someone kicks the ball away or delays a free kick / throw-in and it doesn't always lead to a booking. Totally inconsistent officiating!

The exaggerated appeals of the Reading players helped to sway a ref, who didn't need much persuading. The same ref that decided to follow the Reading fans protests that Hutchinson was trying to steal 5cm with a corner. Ran 50 yards only to realise that Hutchinson was in the right.

He kicked it 10M away . sh** Ref and Lino Soft free that was 50/50 who got it. Ref and Lino deciding who wins game and not team is a disgrace . Should have layed law down to Forde and warned him. Happens too often with officials. Soft free Soft decision

Disgusting to read that he received vile abuse. If the club can identify who they are which should be easy if they are from the club, ban them.
In fact I would go one step further, name and shame them.

Take it from me that was a player/crowd decision and totally over the top. Letter of the law yes but that isn't how you make a decision in those circumstances when you have the discretion to modify . Lucky dip getting a sh** ref and Lino

Looking at the highlights, Forde turns to argue with the linesmen and then kicks the ball away. I would argue it is as much for dissent as just kicking the ball away

Ref and Lino just over the top and probably made their day

Terrible we have people like this in society and I wish you had to put in a passport or NI number in to get a social media account, it would stop all this.
I stand by what I said at the time, he should be fined and his behaviour was wrong. Of course he deserves and second chance, great statement by the club which is not to blame in any of this and I hope Shaq Forde realises this and reinstates his Bristol Rovers references on social media.
