Some thoughts on tonight. 1. The Grecians won because they have developed a better team pattern of play. 2. The average age of the starting Gas 11 was 24.3. Four have played less than 25 league games. 3. The average age of the starting Grecians 11 was 24.2. Several have tremendous league experience. 4. Seven of the Rovers starters joined the club this Summer. Gelling is still an issue. 5. We lost 3-2 in a competition which most fans regard as pointless. Why such concern about the score then? 6. Exeter knew if they won tonight they would have a home tie in the knockout phase. 7. We knew we were unable to qualify for the knockouts. 8. Some fringe players in the BRFC squad had the opportunity to gain some valuable match fitness. 9. Chris Martin returned to the team for 45 minutes. This is a potentially transformational development. 10. We lost because we played like a team of strangers in key phases of the game. Appreciate the time you’ve taken to put that together but “several” of their players have played less than 25 games in the league as well. Starting line up MacDonald-0 EFL appearances James-1 EFL Appearance Francis-11 EFL appearances Richards- 6 EFL appearances Borges-9 EFL appearances Bird-2 EFL appearances Then from the bench Alli-21 EFL appearances Oakes-0 EFL appearances. Several of their team had very little experience at all! Spot on. Their three most experienced players tonight were Purringtin , Carayol and Fitzwaters. Cox has been out on loan in the National league for the last three years after making 40 appearances for them back in 2021. The rest as you say. Without a doubt the majority with hardly any league experience.

Don't give two hoots about the competition and really don't care about the result. It's the same names making the same noises and I just laugh and ignore them all it does is bring this place down. Eventually they get bored and leave just like last time 🥱

Regardless of the competition and who played it looks like we have gone back to players putting in 80% effort. Not one player can look at himself in the mirror and say I left everything on that pitch. Our manager seems to accept this on a weekly basis

Regardless of the competition and who played it looks like we have gone back to players putting in 80% effort. Not one player can look at himself in the mirror and say I left everything on that pitch. Our manager seems to accept this on a weekly basis It’s either top 6 side, Rotherham are a massive club, they were the form side of the league, Reading best home record in the league, we need to gel, we had nothing to play for = Losing more often than not whatever the game is. Every game is the same, some like Connor Taylor have got worse. 21 games last season in the Championship and Blackburn’s young player of the season, we make him look poor. It’s all over the pitch but the club we are playing, something is always an excuse. We never have positive possession, more shots on goal or corners. Even if Charlton had 5 mins left they have equalised as they battered us in the end. Bristol Rovers v Charlton Overall Possession Bristol Rovers 38.9%Charlton Athletic 61.1% Shots Bristol Rovers 9Charlton Athletic 12 Shots on target Bristol Rovers 5Charlton Athletic 6 Shots off target Bristol Rovers 4Charlton Athletic 4 Blocked shots Bristol Rovers 0Charlton Athletic 2 Corners Bristol Rovers 4 Charlton 7 We are set up to defend, set up to counter attack and we are good at neither. Tonight’s stats regardless of league or cup are the same again, we lose on every count.

Imagine a clean sheet tonight, a good game for Connor Taylor, he doesn’t go home tonight and say “it’s ok, Bridgewater Gas only said it’s a pathetic game” We need players hammering down the managers door for a start, competing for places, the 5-0 at Swindon and tonight tells you so much or where this squad and manager is and where Exeter’s is. I’d never want to be in business with some on this forum or let them be involved with a football club.

Nothing to do with second string players, comp means nothing, still getting to know each other, give him time, the stats say this and that. We were totally sh** and buck starts and ends with MT. Perhaps wait till January for green shoots to grow and be in bottom 3/4 . Owners need to grow some balls and make the change

Exeter head and shoulders above us, some brilliant youth players, better than the likes of sousa and garret who are at championship clubs. Mccormick and Thomas playing like they don't want to be here/lack of confidence/can't be bothered delete as appropriate. Positives, Griffiths commanded his area better, Hutchinson played well. Felt for Taylor, he played OK apart from the slip. I didn`t think that Thomas was that bad last night. McCormick was very poor, but I don`t agree that he doesn`t try. I thought he put a shift in, but just isn`t good enough. Covered enough ground, but to very little purpose. Garret looked a decent player when he first arrived here, but has fallen away. Very poor last night. Didn`t think that Exeter were head and shoulders above us, but they maintained possession and passed the ball with greater authority than us, and deserved the win.

Some take aways from me. Hutchinson will become a decent replacement for Evans. Looked much better the past 2 games. Forde may get lots of cards, but he is going to be someone that can really make an impact. Hope we keep him happy. Minutes for Martin needed. Two decent goals scored
And the negatives, Individual good defenders are making mistakes every game. This needs to stop All very well being happy for the opposition to have the bulk of possession, but we then need to defend much much better. We are getting better at creating chances, but cant have to score 3 or 4 to get a result! McCormick is so frustratingly disappointing 90% of the time. Time to leave him out of the squad and give someone else a chance.
Huge game Saturday.

Owners need to grow some balls and make the change Wael did that with BG and it ended with our relegation, just changing the manager doesn't automatically mean we'll improve. If Wael had also done that with JB in L2 we may well still be a L2 side Regardless the owners are never going to sack MT based on last night's performance/result. MT now needs a big performance and a win on Saturday.

School report would read Lacks enthusiasm, could do better, perhaps drop a class to bring him up to speed C- at best

At this level, if you let the opposition have 60% possession and sit on your 18 yard line for much of that time, defenders will have alot of defending to do. Therefore, they will make more mistakes because they are lower league players. If that was switched around and we spent more time at the other end, the conversation would likely be more about how wasteful our attacking players are. I didn't watch last night until the last 15, but were we defending from the front? We either need to be explosive and clinical in counter attack, or super smart off the ball to have success at a defensive 'soak up pressure' type of strategy. I haven't seen either, or our players mastering dark arts like a Sam Nombe to win pre-meditated free kicks around 20 yards out repeatedly. The last few matches seem more positive though according to some voices on here, so I'm keen to see what progression the team is making outside of the results alone. The stats aren't great but we all know that stats mean diddly now😐

Exeter City's second team players are technically so much better than the lack lustre group Taylor picked, Rovers showed little creativity in midfield, they were slow and scared stiff up top, and the goals conceded were embarrassing. Rueben Reid and his mates will be fancying their chances on Saturday. Imo that was noy good enough.
