I thought the owner's son got his team selection badly wrong tonight. Taylor out. Or Friend out. I'm not quite sure, but fire someone

History suggests that many a footballer has stolen a living from the game and never really had thier heart in it. LMc is consistently looking like that kind of player IMO. In that covid-season when on loan LMc looked a real prospect, Barton went the extra mile to get him from Orient but he's never produced the form of his loan season or time at Orient. There must be a player in there but it's hard to see where at present. Would not be surprised to see him moved on at Christmas. He's gone and done a Lord Lucan.

Didn’t watch as I dont follow this competition but going by the comments on here it was yet again another inept performance against weakened opposition?? If that’s the case how much more time are the hierarchy going to tolerate this type of performance under Taylor ? Surely his time is coming to an end soon.

Some players played within themselves (mccormick Thomas) some players did OK, Hutchinson played well. It was end to end, certainly not outplayed. Ultimately we gave away very soft goals again, especially the second when we were on top. Exeter deserved the win.

He’s not made one player look better in 46 games, he’s destroyed some like Connor Taylor. I ask you all to go back to Pompey at home and Norwich away, do you honestly think Matty Handbrake can get us to that level again? And that was nearly a year again soon.

When did we last play well in an EFL Trophy game, we were poor in them under JB and I doubt much better under DC, was it GC who got us to a semi or quarter final v Sunderland? Saturday is a far bigger game for MT.

How many of us were there supporting the team tonight? I think we pick and choose when this competition means something to us. It was a nothing game, with it being almost impossible for us to advance in the competition.

When you ignore the wind up element of your post you make a very good point and it’s one that I said a while ago. Who has he improved in his time at the club? I can only think of Luke Thomas looking really good under him around last Christmas time and he has regressed terribly since. The club strategy is to develop talent and sell it for a profit. Now, I don’t mind that plan. In fact I really like it. The concerning thing is that the current manager isn’t improving anyone and hasn’t. Lots have gone backwards under the bloke, even Conteh seems to. It’s a big worry

I agree with you but the problems arise when it’s the same pattern we’ve seen for most of the managers time here.

Rapidly losing patience with all things rovers related at the moment.

Some thoughts on tonight.
1. The Grecians won because they have developed a better team pattern of play.
2. The average age of the starting Gas 11 was 24.3. Four have played less than 25 league games.
3. The average age of the starting Grecians 11 was 24.2. Several have tremendous league experience.
4. Seven of the Rovers starters joined the club this Summer. Gelling is still an issue.
5. We lost 3-2 in a competition which most fans regard as pointless. Why such concern about the score then?
6. Exeter knew if they won tonight they would have a home tie in the knockout phase.
7. We knew we were unable to qualify for the knockouts.
8. Some fringe players in the BRFC squad had the opportunity to gain some valuable match fitness.
9. Chris Martin returned to the team for 45 minutes. This is a potentially transformational development.
10. We lost because we played like a team of strangers in key phases of the game.

2 of that Exeter squad were in their squad on Saturday, TWO. Connor Taylor, abysmal. Forbes, has he ever played the game before? McCormick, how does he keep getting a deal here? His time is up, surely Yet again another highlighting of those just about worth sticking with, but plenty more than can be shown the exit at the very next opportunity. McCormick has only had the one 3 year deal? How have we gone from Bobby Thomas, Quanesh & Baggott to Forbes? Sadly i think you already know the answer. Forbes is rated in the higher echelons of the game but doesn't perform at Rovers wheras previous loanees have. Not all of them admittedly but we currently we have too many players performing at a level below their previous achievements.

Appreciate the time you’ve taken to put that together but “several” of their players have played less than 25 games in the league as well. Starting line up MacDonald-0 EFL appearances James-1 EFL Appearance Francis-11 EFL appearances Richards- 6 EFL appearances Borges-9 EFL appearances Bird-2 EFL appearances Then from the bench Alli-21 EFL appearances Oakes-0 EFL appearances. Several of their team had very little experience at all!

Engage your own brain, Saturday is a far bigger game than a meaningless Trophy game tonight, as there's no way MT will get sacked before Saturday's game. A win on Saturday and he'll survive at least another week, lose and it might well be the end.
