Yet another goal for Mateeeeeee I see. What more does he need need to do to silence his critics. Haters gonna keep on hating I suppose. Il be the first to criticise him if he starts having a bad season. But do his critics have it in them to praise his efforts when he plays well. Take a vote in the poll, I'm curious to see the ratio of linkers to dislikers on this forum. Thank you and goodnight Irene.

Average finisher, above average everything else. He's a valuable player but you cant afford him at the expense of a proper poacher. He's put a few a way and well done to him but compared to the top scorers in the league and/or how many he COULD have buried, not amazing.

I'm one of his biggest fans. Rate him so highly but he needs a rest.
His sharpness isn't there in his touch. Easter who hasn't played for God knows how long put more running in than him and I class Matty as a hard working player.
He looked dead on his feet tonight.

He put in a good shift tonight got a deserved a goal, showed his all round ability in abundance, ran himself into the ground and deserved the big ovation he got when he came off, always nice to see someone do the quarters justice, not so nice to read drop him for the next game.

Well if hard work for forwards equalled goals Taylor would be top of the league, glad he got one today.

"Yes, he's a great asset to the team"
I voted for this option but I think a more accurate description would be a "good or very good asset to the team".

I'd like a "no I hate him but I suggested better players (who we could afford to sign and who wanted to sign for us) before we signed Matteeeeee"...just so the haters could pretend that they knew better...

Gotta say that I thought he had a poor game tonight, and I would have started Harrison in his place. I admit I'm not a fan of his but he is a favourite with DC.

But that said he epitomises everything DC wants us to be; a hardworking side that gives 100% to the cause. I appreciate football is about more than that, but after all of the absolute dog sh** we've all put up with over the years, I can't possibly harbour a grudge for him holding those traits in such high regard. We've definitely seen far more gifted footballers in our time supporting the Gas - but we've also seen many, many, many.... many.......... many worse. We haven't seen all that many (in recent years at least) who give as much to the cause though; and for that I am definitely a fan of his.

I thought he was back on form last night having had a poor few game. He ran and ran and in the second half in particular his link up play and movement was excellent. He was involved in almost every positive move 2nd half and deserved his goal.
Just goes to show.
Opinions are like your penis. Nice to have, but you shouldn't try to ram it down someone's throat.

I thought Taylor was poor last night too. Don't get me wrong, he took his goal well but I'm struggling to think of what else he did do. He won very little in the air, didn't do much of the chasing as Easter did it all and after the first 20mins he drifted so far wide he started to limit the attacking options.
For me he needs a rest, I'm not one of his haters but he didn't look on it last night and we need everyone firing for these last 6 games. Maybe a couple of games on the bench will freshen him up for he final 4.

When Ellis came on he was utter rubbish, and he has started to "dive" now, something i hate in football Time for him to move on now we have far better at the club/coming to the club next season ( in fact one of them was on show tonight )

Said the ref looked but played had moved on. Trouble is if you're talking about Easter being the far better he's far from being a spring chicken.

Don't misunderstand my earlier post. I too think Ellis was awful last night. What I meant was, at the outset bearing in mind recent games I would have started Ellis.

It's a team game and I thought he was pretty good in combination with easter and lines. And a much improved monky in the mix helped too. Individually he still has issues (mostly lack of confidence / skill under pressure) but I've kind of stopped worrying about that and focused on how it fits in a team set up.
