When we appointed Buckle as manager I thought we were appointing a successful up and coming young manager who likes to play attacking football. Instead we got an arrogant **** with a shocking defence. Clarke is a young manager who has like Buckle had success outside of the league. However, unlike Buckle seems a much more decent guy and has already accepted some blame for our failings which Buckle never did. We are signing young and hungry players. Buckle promised to reduce the wage bill and get good value out of players which may be the case for aims but Clarke has also demonstrated today that he isn't going to be prepared to pay over the odds in wages to keep players here like Lee Brown which can only be a good thing going forwards. Clarke says all the right things but so did Buckle. I think Clarke could be the right man, I just hope Clarke really can be what we expected Buckle to be, we as fans deserve it. I think he is everything I hoped Buckle would be and more! I <3 you DC!

In pre-season DC gave me his email address and said to email if i had any issues or questions.
That itself was a nice touch but I obviously didn't want to use it or harrass him etc haha.
Today I sent my first, and likely last, email to him.
Here is his response:
Will we ever have a manager like this again?
Legend in the making.

Clarke is everything we hoped Buckle, Penney, Campbell, North, McGhee and Ward would be.

McGhee made me seriously question my sanity. Ward made me want to take up stamp collecting instead of football to liven up my Saturdays. Darrell's got me seriously considering Accrington away.
He's golden.

DC has given me my passion back for this fantastic club Until we lose a few games in September? Then there will be arguments again. Booing. Discontent on here and at the ground. Anger towards the BoD. Outcry for QnA sessions. Etc.

Anger towards the BoD. Outcry for QnA sessions. Etc. Outcry and a call for a Q and A and anger at the board could and should have been sorted by the club last season. It's their own fault for failing to put it to bed a long time ago. It will remain an underlying problem at the club for as long as the current BOD remains in charge.

Everyone loves him cause we won games and got promotion, thats great but just remember we are as fickle as any other fanbase I think you're both pre-judging a lot of Rovers fans there. I'm not saying that during the first wobble next season there won't be calls for his head, booing from the stands and arguments on here. But I think there is a core of Rovers fans who recognise the need for stability, the need to give a manager time and the need for us to stick with a good manager when we find one. To go back to the original title of the thread - I think he's more than we thought Buckle would be because we thought Buckle would bring us success. DC hasn't just kick-started us from a period of mediocrity, he's turned around a tanker that was steaming at full speed in the wrong direction...
