When we appointed Buckle as manager I thought we were appointing a successful up and coming young manager who likes to play attacking football. Instead we got an arrogant **** with a shocking defence.
Clarke is a young manager who has like Buckle had success outside of the league. However, unlike Buckle seems a much more decent guy and has already accepted some blame for our failings which Buckle never did. We are signing young and hungry players. Buckle promised to reduce the wage bill and get good value out of players which may be the case for aims but Clarke has also demonstrated today that he isn't going to be prepared to pay over the odds in wages to keep players here like Lee Brown which can only be a good thing going forwards.
Clarke says all the right things but so did Buckle. I think Clarke could be the right man, I just hope Clarke really can be what we expected Buckle to be, we as fans deserve it.

I was thinking about this actually ggmi. Its too early get but so far it seems like he could be. More passion than arrogance. Hes building a squad capable of competing. If we started the season with conference players we would struggle in my opinion. Browns signing is brilliant as is Taylors. Think we could see some real success.

We have had 7 managers in a few seasons. They have all achieved similar results. They have all had varying approaches and behaviour. I'm happy to see how he gets on and am not interested in talk anymore.

We should also not forget that he was the assistant all last season and only managed two dodgy wins out of eight after being put in charge. Another worrying stat is, I think, that in those eight games we never came back to draw or win if we fell behind in a game !

early days but i think this is our man, especially if he gets decent backing from the fans, the board and the players!
no more dressing room unrest!
no more hand washing from the board!
and no more whingeing from the terrace! (well... not much please...)
I can see the Buckle comparison. But as people say DC has a better personality. That was the lesson we learn from buckle, the hard way.
DC has morals.
thank god.
our squad at the end of the season was a joke. I really don;t think we can blame DC for that. the injuries, loss of form, suspensions, and crap loan signings, were nothing to do with him.

I think given how utterly abysmal we were in so many areas, you cant really blame him for trying to change things. Just too much too quickly. He admitted that though in the EGM.

Ive backed every manager and argued their cases when things were not going right just to be left disappointed by some of the inept decisions that they made. I'm keeping stum on DC in the hope that he may be the messiah!!

Yes, whilst I have a feeling Clarke is the right man for us, I still don't think he will take us up. I think the board are once again showing a lack of ambition. Clarke has done well to sign 2 half decent strikers by the sounds of things both on a free and keep Brown on a reasonable wage. We are only looking at signing 2 or 3 new players which shows me that the board are lacking the ambition to trying going back up at the first attempt.

It shows me someone isn't worried about being able to put out a starting team and full subs bench without using the loan market and/or youth players...

I totally agree with anyone who may remark that we have little depth, but it's really not that bad if no-one leaves.

I'm far from convinced with that team, a lot obviously depends on the quality of midfielders/wingers we get. Not convinced by the centre back partnership and not convinced by Santos being a regular starter yet. We don't look too bad upfront now but I still think we are a bit of a way of seriously taking this league by the scruff of the neck. If we make the playoffs, I'll be delighted.

Seemed to be the common thought pre season, so it's fantastic that we are top going into the last few games.
