What embarresses me, and what has brought me here from the other forum. (Thanks Ras) is the appaling negative attitude of many of our fans. It really gets me down. No one likes where we are or why, but really? Slagging off any new signing because he's not Messi, and slagging off anyone who disagrees? Boy, how far have we fallen? Disgrace. [br Snap - the obsessive negativity by some on here re aPr things Bristol Rovers and especially those that make out they know oh so much about what had happened or is going to happen - laughable cringeworthy and embarrassing. I agree with KP what we miss most is the togetherness of the fans even if it was tribal... We fought like our team .. Always the underdog but it instilled pride and passion... If you think about it regardless of our current situation it mirrors the adversity we have previously suffered in many ways ... The fires / Having to leave Eastville for Ashton and then Twerton .., a tip of a ground and training out of a portacabin at Frys .. Nearly going out of existence ...But we survived and why, because the fans and the club united to fight the world through dignity and pride with a rag bag team of nobodies of which some came from the non league which had a far bigger gulf to division 4 than the Conference does now to L2. There are so many parallels now to those days but the fans are not united as then. And what saddens me most is I suspect a lot of the most negative posters on here are actually from those eras. Come on guys .., we go again after all there were many splits in the board in those days aswell but we still rode the storm and got on with what we did best .., support the club with passion and fevor...I so remember the derbies at Twerton .. View them again on YouTube guys ... See what you created in adversity and come on lets go again... After all I t isn't hard As we are actually bloody good at it - let's never ever forget our roots !!! I agree that slagging off new players that have yet to kick a ball in the colours is ridiculous. But I am not convinced that this has occured to any great extent. What has happened is that many are incredulous at the ott club announcements on these players when I suspect most, if not all, would not have made the reserve team, when those halcyon days when we saw that system as a worthwhile stepping stone to first team, league and professional, football. Add to that the excrutiatingly bad PR eminating from the club, so bad that the term PR is being flattering. So, its no good slaggng off fans who feel this way when their reactions reflect reality, and even more silly to quote reactions from a different era and before the last decade happened and has influenced viewpoints accordingly. If we do not challenge the facts then we are doomed, surely, to repeat the same mistakes over snd over again, as ee actually have over the last five years. Blind faith does not work, and I am afraid this attitude will condemn the club to life of ground hog day where repetitive failure becomes the norm. You proud to be part of that process? To be frank, and not aimed at any individual as everyone is entitled to their viewpoint, this acdeptance of failure at worst, mediocrity at best, thwts embarrasing.

...We used to have such inventive fans who made shirts, jumpers, fanzines and great songs... sign o' the times as the little Prince once said but what is stopping people doing this again? Ok, so some of society is too busy living lives virtually to lead lives actually, but there is also a huge rise in creativity in many ways; art, graffiti, knitting, tattooing, DIY culture, even loom bands! You can make a really decent music album in your bedroom today, take really decent photos on your phone, and publish your own writing/blog. All creative. DIY is the most important issue. Don;t wait for others to do it. Do It Yourself. oh, and bring back breakdancing Great post MM, You are, of course , right. The works has changed and I could make these things myself as I did play a part in designing a few of the items in the past and the jumper with the Pirate sticking his hook through a Robin was one of them. It's just nicer when there is a group of you who can bounce ideas off of each other. That is what I miss most. Yes, we can design, publish and print lots of things on our own now but we now seem to live in a bubble of our own company a lot of the time now because if this. Cars are our own bubbles, home is less family orientated now and we don't seem to do stuff collectively nowadays. Yes, there has been progress just that it seems to favour a more singular experience with many with their heads stuck into a laptop, PC or tablet. I used to enjoy the fact that groups of us would do things together. It was very much a bonding experience. I miss that

Lots of things I agree with but certainly there had been extreme negativity towards new players on both forums. As I have supported the team since 1966 I can understand what you mean about different eras and whether new players would make the cut now but the point is which I feel we miss is We are a conference team now so we are going to sign a percentage of conference players though hopefully those that do have the ability to step up if the club progresses / young and hungry that become assets as opposed to being liabilities that we once again lose money on through a poor return. This is an unknown and so I don't feel can be compared to those of a previous era. I'm Not accepting the state the club are in and hurting even more today waiting for the fixtures to be released. Seeing them in black n white today is going to be a downer for all today. I have questioned if I will attend this season .. I feel I want to say I did see the 1st home game in rovers history of being in the conference as I certainly do re UWE if it actually happens. My point is though there is nothing wrong with challenging the board as long as we support the team either through welcoming new players and attending or doing one or the other. There is a difference and it's the slagging off the team bring currently built I find hard to stomach

i don`t find the twins embarassing if it was`nt for them or at least chris then there would be no singing at most of our away games,ok he goes out of tune at times but hes the only one or one of the only ones to have the bollocks to start it off and the other lads join in most of the time and at home him and Barry get that whole back wall section of the blackthorn end singing, the embarassing thing for me is when no one sings and those that attempt to start it off get ignored or get disaproving looks.U.T.G.
