It seems every year we talk about it - thought I'd try and get something done.
Would anyone like to meet up with gashead79 and I before the Salisbury game in the big scary IRL world at this pub in an attempt to hash out which songs we should attempt to introduce into the Rovers canon over a few beers and then attempt to introduce them once at the game.
This will hopefully lay the groundworks for a regular singing section that people can drop in and out of as they attend games.
If it's cool with the mods I'll use this thread to update everyone about meeting points / times.
I think the boys and Darrell deserve some loud support this season. Anyone with me?

Splendiferous. What time do people think we should meet at The Old Castle, considering there's a half-hour walk to the ground?

Not many singers or potential singers on this board by the looks of it.

This whole, "come sing with me in a high voice young man" thing sounds to me a bit like Internet Grooming !

I am of an age that can remember Baden-Powell and his 'Scouting For Boys' book.

Think the problem could be your choice of pub.

Think the problem could be your choice of pub. Oh really? I just went for the closest one on google maps. Got another one in mind? Never been to Salisbury in my life.

Love the idea of this all. But would a pre-season friendly against Salisbury be the best idea? Might be better off at the Welly/Vic or Duke and try it at the West Brom or Arsenal game?

Raincheck for West Brom? I reckon that's the one most people will come out for. Although as its a testimonial will it not be a load of ex-players? No chance to try out songs based on the current squad.

The pub you suggest is very close to the ground but a harvester. Mainly restaraunt. There are decent boozers in the centre of town by the station but overall the ground is right on the outskirts with not a lot in terms of watering holes. Last time I was there there was housing estates going up all around it.

Initially I don't think it matters where we meet up or who against. We need a group of lads who can get on for a start..of course that doesn't matter for one offs, but if we are talking 'singing section' it's different.
Like I said, we have this thread every season at least once. It rarely works out...... Our supporters are a funny bunch too, we get all noisy at 1 nil down for about 2 minutes but not at 0-0 unless we have a corner. A dedicated singing squad would be a good addition, but would need to negotiate between the reactive supporters who spring into action at obscure times and sing over the small groups that get longer songs going-like the old feds in the RH corner.

Love to do it, but I am disabled and need a seat. The singing section would obviously be on a terrace which counts me out unfortunately.

I work some weekends, me and the two lads I go with will 100% be there when we can.
Not very optimistic its gonna work out though ill be honest, remember the 'blackthorn ultras' they had a whole website and everything, don't think they managed to get more than 5 people at a game.
But feck it you gotta try

I applaud you if this works out i really do, but from my experience we have too any people who do their own thing at Rovers and without being nasty they turn their noses up at others trying something. The left side right side thing at first was great, it generated singing of different songs and actually unified the Blackthorn then a few decided they were too cool for all that and it quickly turned crap. It is my opinion we don't have fans that want to do things 'together' and i say that with sadness. I totally agree. that's why I got involved on the other thread. We have seen this topic time and time again and you are correct in that we do not have a united fanbase. That is evident in loads of examples, the small number of people on here argue about almost everything! I could count on 1 hand the amount of times I have heard GI sung all the way through during a match by a decent number of people.
