A brilliant post Hugo, cant disagree with that. For me having an active member of the football club, a former employee of the football club and Jon a successfull fundraiser for the club launch a protest group was odd. I could go on but not the thread for it.
Jon has done a great job with ffs and im sorry my posts took away from that. I also know it has given many people happy times and i dont want that to stop. I hope i can feel like joining in the future.

I hope i can feel like joining in the future. For me, that is why I consider that group to be the one to follow. All of the 'leaders' of it are people previously involved with the club and this helps their arguments actually carry some weight. If any group were going to be listened to it would be them. At least they are people that have tried to help the club and have fallen under the sword in some way or another. But at the end of the day these are 2 completely seperate groups and do not conflict. If the funds from this are controlled in a way that we know what they're going to be spent on (and they will be), then the board have no option of what to do with it and feelings towards the board aren't going to be portrayed by the group.

I dont disagree but any ties with the club should be open and the purpose of it being mentioned is around it being odd not illegal.

Well personally I'm of the opinion that Jon can do whatever he likes with the FFSC provided it's aim(s) from the outset are up front and honest (which with Jon, they are bound to be).
If he wanted to put the money towards Badger culling that would be his choice frankly; he just needs to ensure that it is communicated from the off. Then, for anyone not keen, they simply don't join.
The fact is that the work Jon is trying to do is positive. Some may feel like he's had "his pants pulled down" - that's their opinion. Either way, it takes a bigger man to forgive and forget and try to move on and - for that - I have nothing but respect for Jon. The FFSC's intentions have always had BRFC at the centre of their heart and the interests of it's members (through meet ups etc) too. For that reason I truly believe it's worth continuing with. If that means forgiving others for their past mistakes then it just shows what a decent bloke the man is as some of us may not have been able to do so.
Delighted you're continuing with it Jon and I'll be signing up regardless.

Dins i feel the ffs is much more than a chuck money at the club group, it give ordinary fans and non members discounted access to hospitality, regular draws for members, sponsors young uns, also on another level, they allowed me to reconnect with people, ive been ill and locked away for years we then lost our daughter, and the FFS were there for us along with non members, it allowed us to get on with life a bit more, i will be a member this year. What i would say is if your not sure whether its for you or not go along to one of its hospitality events ,im sure you will join after

My only concern about the FFS, is that it appears to be being dragged into the "political" squabbling which inevitably encompasses all things related to Rovers. FFS started out as a simple idea, which Jon put shed loads of time and effort into promoting and facilitating, to enable fans to socialise and have a bit of fun, as well as giving them a connection to the club via the £10 joining cost.
We know where the money went, and, ok, my tenner would have only covered the cost of one sleeve of player's shirt, but I felt that I was involved with the club again. I kept a look out to see how the youth players we sponsored were doing. I loved it when Mo leapfrogged the Wycombe ballboy, in a shirt sponsored by FFS. For personal reasons, I didn't make it to any of the FFS sponsored matches, but was left in no doubt that I would be made extremely welcome, and was even offered a lift from an FFS member who was travelling from Sussex. For somebody who became disaffected with the club some while ago, to dip a toe back in the water in a such simple but rewarding way was a huge bonus. I really hope that the FFS continues in pretty much the same format, as it was great to be involved in something, so positive, and untainted (apart from when Jon "had his pants pulled down")
Jon appears to still have the enthusiasm and energy to make FFS bigger and better (if that's possible), this season. This is not a criticism of anybody who has commented, I understand where you're coming from, but, please - could we not have just one element connected to Rovers which doesn't fall foul of nit picking and over-thinking as to it's purpose?

Agreed TT. It is only one or two who are making it complicated, just hope it does not put Jon off in anyway. As far as I am concerned, the only thing that needs working out,is whether it stays exactly as before re using the funds collected. I also have not been able to join in a "get together" at a sponsored match, that is because I help out match days, but as I sit in the Dribuild, have been able to have a quick chat while they were in the bar! Behave like true gentlemen too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My take on all this is a bit of pride in being a member of this group, tinged with a bit of disappointment with the attitude of some individuals. The events I attended within the group were a source of much enjoyment, I have met some great people who I can truthfully say fully participated in the camaraderie .
If you want to join then please do, if you have doubts come along to a match and make your mind up.
Onwards and upwards, Simon break out the flags.

Jon, please can you confirm whether rumours of the FFSC funds being put towards Badger culling are in any way accurate?

In general i agree with the sentiments. Unfortunatley I feel the club politicised it sue to their usual disdain for the supporters As long as anyne and everyone is clear on who, what where re FFS it is a free choice to join and best of luck to JTS and those who join feel it is worth it

jon's posts seem to get a bit lost in debate.... this thread has gone a bit away from objective, although it's still a decent read it was supposed to be questions.... but hey-ho.... jon will you be wearing those snazzy shoes to the family open day?
