Great that we don't have to put up with sub-standard referees anymore!

That was an appalling mistake ridden disorganised and weak performance the like of which typified our last season in this division.

Poor, repetitive and predictable. No creativity. Looks like we haven't played since 17 may. Onwards we go . . .

I'm still in shock from Taylor. Was he not gonna accept it as an open net until he'd got on the ground and pushed it in with his head?
O'Toole celebrating in front of me has taken all the good feeling about the new season out of me. Still, cup on Tuesday!

Didn't manage to catch the game as I'm on holiday, but is it true that we went with Lockyer in midfield and The Beard out wide?

They completely outclassed us today. Those who said there's not much difference between the Conference and L2 are wrong quite frankly. We had no time on the ball and it led to constant long balls.
Lockyer is no CM and it seemed like he was played there because DC wanted him somewhere. Sinclair should have been CM with either Bodin or Monakana out wide.
Tbh if Harrison had scored that chance it would have been very harsh on Northampton.

Dreadfull game , tactics wrong , team selection wrong . Sinclair isn't a winger , Lockyer is a defender. At least we can't get much worse .

At least we can't get much worse . How long have you supported Rovers for again?

I wasn't expecting much as soon as I saw our starting line up tbh, Sinclair out wide, Lockyer centre mid and a Taylor Easter strike partnership... I really don't understand it. Monakana looked very raw so I'm now not surprised he didn't start, Bodin didn't make me think for one second he'll be here beyond his short contract, Taylor did his usual, and even Harrison couldn't finish today, there were simply some poor performances from good enough players, but also a few that lead me to believe they won't make the grade, I know a lot of people are gonna say "it's only one game" but I'm not one of them, I believe we need a few better players

I would be frightened to see how many touches Montana had before he was subbed. I am struggling to think of a worse Rovers' debut than that. We were terrible. Team selection was strange to say the least. No Ellis, Sinclair on the wing, Lockyer in CM. Personally, I am writing off Tuesday as I think we will be put to the sword. It's all about Yeovil now, where hopefully we can get a point to kick start our season.

V. poor, think the blame lies at DC's feet more than anything. Don't like criticising the bloke, but just as I forgot 2013-14 at the start of last season, we start afresh this season. Formation/personnel and tactical decisions questionable for sure.
Lockyer is no central midfielder, to be honest I doubt his ability to hold down the RB position in the FL. Lines needs somebody with a battling mentality alongside him, Sinclair was supposed to be that man today. Could have played Gosling, Monakana etc. out on the wing with Montana on the left. O'Toole winning every aerial battle said it all. We were narrow, and as a result didn't play much football at all.
DC will learn I'm sure, but he needs to play people in the right positions if we're going to succeed. Mansell and McChrystal's returns will help no end.

Wow wasn't expecting that.Incredibly inept would be my description of our non performance.Leadbitter ball watching like a 9 year old for the goal, which we would have said was a beauty if we scored it,but it was just a smash across goal that could have gone anywhere in reality.Giving our 4 smallest strikers game time when we booted it long all day to the Cresswell head magnet was pitiful, the guy totally cleaned up but on the couple of occasions he had to chase back he was completely paceless.Mildy was actually trying to release to the full backs but they were on to that from the start as it forced us into playing exactly how they would like.Of course it's only 1 game but that was so so deflating.

They were a big strong side who played to their strengths,we were weak and played to their strengths with all the big boot. I am confident DC will get us playing better with a more balanced team and tactics
