4 players slot in no problem? Thats over 1/3 of a team.
I also think that pro/semi pro footballers should be able to slot in and do a job but the tendancy now is more on adapting to systems, getting to know your team mates etc. The bedding in period for a noobie that we sign the week before the season starts is exactly what we don't have provisions for. We don't have the flex for that unless everybody is happy to rely on a bench made up of 1st year pros/youth? Hardly ideal.
I have had a look at some of our competitors forums. FGR lost 1-0 to brum, had 10? players on the bench. Grimsby have been banging goals in against northern prem sides, Disley hasn't played for the last 2 games???
I think its important to look outside of our bubble from time to time and after a quick glance, we are behind the curve I'd say.
Bar a few hopefuls on here, the reality is that we are in need of a quality 3 weeks up to the start of the season. Hoping and praying that we don't lose any players through injury or transfer after now but somebody is bound to pick up a knock or suffer a pull-standard pre season.

I think there was a BOARD meeting on Monday.
By the way,there was NOT a 6 hour Board meeting the other week,which has been reported elsewhere.

You are definitely bringing home the reality Simon, I had not looked at the other teams and have now had a look. I very much doubt if anyone at our club have looked at that either and it really does need to be addressed. I was starting to feel a little more up for it but looking at how others are doing had cooled that. I think we are in for a very torrid time. |

If Buckle's spell here taught us anything then I'd have thought it'd be to not read too much into pre-season results. I agree we need a good few weeks in the market though. |

pre-season results do matter if we don't score any/hardly any goals - early habits breed more-ingrained habits, breed success !

Some positive signs there, players tracking back and some slick.movement when going forward....
A fee more decent experienced signings and I believe we could do rather ok
