Quite a enjoyable nil all draw despite fairly few chances. I thought leadbitter was superb. More so his defensive duties as Dc has criticised him for this in the past. He runs and runs. Holds his line superb for the wide through ball. (To avoid being off side). Gets plenty of high and low crosses in the box. Got in 3 great challenges which had he got wrong would have been slated and at least a yellow card. (Saved at least 1 good chance if not 2 from them) Could be my favourite Rovers player ever if he keeps it up. Though wally will take some beating.WOW! Being compared favourably with Wally is some compliment to young Leads.

Thought Bliss did a decent job of worrying their defence to create opening for others, but a decoy will only work for a short time and no use without someone to follow up. Easter nearly did i suppose, but seemed to be sat too deep at times. Anyway, interesting experiment and nothing lost IMHO

Really good to hear lots of positives out of last night. Hopefully we can do the business on Saturday.

I thought Gosling did very well last night, some of his midfield work was superb with excellent passing all night - my man of the match

Anyway, interesting experiment and nothing lost IMHO He won one really good header but still didn't look like he wanted a header enough not long before that. Him and Easter weren't close enough to each other as a partnership. Nothing lost you say, well we will never know. Blissett coming on, was almost like throwing the towel in to me. Personally, would have liked to have seen Lines come on instead of Blissett. Also would have kept Bodin on, maybe even have put him up front alongside Easter,

Was it just me or did anyone else think that Notts Cpunty should have changed their shirts? There were definitely some poor passes because of it We also need to improve our free kick routines xx No, but the officials needed to - and thankfully they did for the 2nd.

Whilst I agree we looked composed on the ball across most of the pitch, for me (and with hindsight) the subs made no sense at all...Even the half-time one didn't bring anything to our play, but the other two just disrupted us and meant we lost all momentum and cohesion up front. For me DC got it massively wrong in the second half.
Supergas : - I meant the players he took off needed taking off. The fact that those who came on had no impact is another story ( strength on bench to win games isn't that great). I think DC put Blissett on hoping he would get his nut on one of those crosses/corners that we kept pumping into their danger area.

I agree about DC getting it wrong though. Lines could have been just the impetus we needed to force home a winner. Blissett was never going to get us the winner was he? Montano coming on was fair enough but he still wasn't good enough again.

Shame we couldn't grab a win but a draw probably the fair result - though I think we looked the better side. The subs didn't work at the end but oh well worth a roll of the dice. Pick up 3 points against Newport and that'll be a job well done this week.
And also I believe the half time sub improved us greatly. Thought Easter linked play very nicely.

Bring Blissett on and then not bother to hit high crosses into the box like we had done all night to the likes of Taylor, all easily dealt with by their backline. He definately caused a few problems for them typified by their manhandling of him around the waist on a few occasions. Pity that Easter and co did not get closer to him and he was left isolated by this. He won a few headers outside the box and made one reasonable attempt inside that went wide.
We definately have strikers who can convert what I would call good team goals, but not one who can make a goal out of nothing apart from possibly Bodin in my opinion. This was especially evident in the second half when probably after a rocket from their manager at halftime, Notts were far quicker to the loose ball etc and as the game went on we looked like we would not score if we had been there all night.

As far as 0-0 goes, this was a decent game of football. Did everything but put the ball in the net. Bodin, Easter and I think Mansell with a free kick in the first half were unlucky not to score. Second half County played better as opposed to us becoming less effective, they were awful first half apart from their no 33, Stanley Amomba who was excellent throughout, what a midfielder he is. Would love him in our colours.
Thought Bodin and Gosling were excellent last night, Mansell, Leadbitter, Lockyer, MM, Easter and Harrison all looked good. I didnt quite understand the half time sub of Harrison, him and Gosling were doing well down the left, Taylor was a bit in and out of the game. Montano was terrible when he came on. Bliss, well, what can you say, League football isnt for him. I dont think he will make it sadly. When Taylor who didnt do a great deal looked better then you have to assume that he will be moving on in Jan. Thought it would have been better to bring on Lines for Sinclair to add the quality dimension to the midfield. Maybe try and unlock their defense with a good ball, or take advantage of some of the set pieces we had last night. A couple towards the end was Lines territory. This is what Sincs doesnt have to his game.
Couple of notes of interest from last night, sat next to one of the NC directors who was a lovely old chap, told me that Roy Carroll and Alan Smith play for them for free. Not even an appearance or bonus either, Smith said that he likes the club was local and due to his big money successes elsewhere didnt need anything else but to play first team football. Carroll gets a wage from the Irish FA so doesnt want one at club level. Thought fair play to them. He also thought that Gosling and Leadbitter were our standout players and asked where they came from.

He eventually won a header on the half way line which was greeted with ironic cheers from the crowd...Ellis was winning a good percentage of headers in the first half against their defence and he must be at least a foot shorter than Blissett, would rather have seen Lines come on tbh.
We played very well in the first half and arguably should have been out of sight against a poor County side, but we let them have a little twenty minute spell in the second half where their confidence was visibly lifted.
These are the type of teams we need to be winning against at Home....points dropped last night ,rather than a point gained imo.
On to Saturday now against a Newport team, which will no doubt be confident after their result last night. UTG

I said the other day on here that they will be a different prospect under Sheridan and got laughed at. I would take a 1-0 which is my prediction.

I do believe that Gosling should play in the middle as he is now in my opinion our most creative midfield player. Bodin has individual flashes of skill which are great but sometimes seems to lose concentration and give the ocassional silly ball away.

I disagree, all of our best work was down the left last night and Gosling terrorised their full back most of the game. He looks better in this league than he did at conference level and looks a whole lot sharper and fitter too. Who would you put out wide if you did? You would have to go 352 and put Brown there as Montano is just not good enough. But then you would imbalance the midfield as Sincs and Mans are playing out of their skins at the moment.

I made the mistake early on of saying to my Brother that I thought Gosling was going missing far too much. Bugger me if he didn't go on to have a great game.
Blisset? Well I don't think he's got it to be honest. For a guy his size he sure struggles to win a ball in the air.

He showed glimpses last year of a decent player, but I have to say that last night I thought he had a very good game, looked sharp and probably would have given him MOM ahead of Macca.
