Should the UK stay in the EU, or get out?
My opinion is that we should leave.

Because the only way for world peace is if we are all working together as groups of nations.
A United Countries of the World if you will.
The continued defense of factions and single interest countries holds back any progress that could be made to that end.

Why do I think we should leave the EU.............
Watching DC going cap in hand to the unelected EU powerbrokers trying to get their permission to run the country the way it should be ran is just wrong. Nobody ever voted for this.
In any crisis within the EU, the first thing that ALWAYS happens is that Merkel has a meeting with the current French President. They then decide what course of action to take. Eventually the rest of the EU are told what will be happening. The UK are NEVER part of this decision making process. It is a false claim that you have to be in the club to influence the direction the club takes. The UK has no influence and anyone who thinks they do are deluded (in the nicest possible way!).
Trade. The UK has a long history of being one of the world leaders when it comes to trade. Trade will continue with the EU as it has always done, but the UK will be free to negotiate trade agreements with anyone they want, and not just who the EU tells them to trade with.
Migration. Something has to be done. We cannot continue the way things are.

Out sooner the better, our country is run by europe, it seems we are one of the few countries that follow the rules and get penalised for it, look at earlier we had a fookin 1 billion bill from the eu as we were prosperous, my understanding was this is then split between the less prosperous countries , so how did the bulk of that get split betwixt france and germany. don't be to blinkered by the free trade bollocks, ever noticed how other eu countries boycott our products. the bit that rankles for me. This is one of the reasons that the uk has lost it identity, controversial point time one man in the 30's had a vision of a united europe, fortunately he was beaten, however his idea for a united europe has in fact arrived, the only thing i do like is that i can order parts for cars and vans in germany cheaper than the uk and sometimes it arrives a darn site quicker . An example i ordered some merc bits in the uk on the 25th nov, still waiting, i ordered some genuine daewoo bits from bulgaria £35 cheaper than in the uk and arrived by courier as promised 7 days later. These days the bulk of my online goods come from china, as long as you are sensible, these are very good value it means on a limited budget i can get stuff i wouldn't be able to afford in the uk and often at equal or better quality, an example needed a boxed stepper motor controller, £45 uk price plus £5 delivery, china price £16.10 inc free delivery arrived within 3 months. As a country we need to being fostering links with these countries, even goods from russia are quite cheap. and yet goods from the usa our strongest ally get hammered at customs A good example of price differences is this site look at the prices then find the uk equivalent www.hobbyking.co.uk , even though a uk premium is added it's still cheaper than a lot of uk places, just make sure if you order from china it's under the import tax limits

I don't think anyone has a problem with the original intention of a Common Market. However, it is now quite clear that the aim is a United States of Europe.
Gorbachev said this:
“The most puzzling development in politics during the last decade is the apparent determination of Western European leaders to re-create the Soviet Union in Western Europe.”

I voted against when Harold Wilson had a referendum in the 70s and I haven't really changed my mind. I don't want a United States of Europe which seems to be the way it is going.

Isn't United States of Europe what is was all about in the first place? Good trade deals, working together as one unit? We didn't even accept the Euro. Top line Businesses have already said we leave, they'll go. Really not sure about all this.

Those same 'top line businesses' also said that it would be a disaster if the UK did not adopt the Euro. I think virtually everyone now agrees that keeping out of the Euro was the best thing we ever did.

We don't really have much to trade anyway. .

Staying in = USE
Leaving = 51st State USA
We won't survive on our own.
Do you want to be European or American?

Staying in = USE Leaving = 51st State USA We won't survive on our own. Do you want to be European or American? Yeah...completely disagree with this. My natural tendency in these things is to find the middle ground (and as this is politics I assume that's what will happen). But there's no way in the long term we will stay in Europe without significant changes to the EU. We might vote to stay in this time without any significant changes, but 4-5 years down the line we'll be in the same place with the same issues again... Also, leaving will not make us the 51st state....in fact it will allow us to negotiate our own trade deals with countries like India, Australia, South Africa....and who's to say we can't get a better deal alone than we can as part of Europe? As for not surviving on our own? I think certain countries would be quite happy to see someone finally put two fingers up to the 'European Juggernaut' and at the very least it won't harm our prospects in the world market. Who knows, it might even improve our economy...?

Staying in = USE Leaving = 51st State USA We won't survive on our own. Do you want to be European or American? Complete scaremongering tosh!! Are Norway/Switzerland states of the USA or provinces of Greater Germany which you call the USE? Both survive fine and neither have to pay £1bn per year to be members of a corrupt union that has still not published its accounts for 30 years. There wasn`t a single benefit to the UK joining the Euro even though people with your attitude tried to scare us in,the same with the EU there isn`t a single benefit for the UK remaining part of it.If we were a poxy little country like Lithuania or Ireland the benefits would be huge as we could be members and sponge off the nett contributors. The UK are one of only two nett contributors left in the EU.The UK pulling out will probably be the final nail in the coffin of a corrupt political union that was the brainchild of Nazi Germany.

I don't doubt your sincerity or conviction, but you may want to look at your first sentence and last. It is also historically not the case. I would also avoid comparing us with Norway and Switzerland, both are much smaller nations population wise and they are part of the EEA, EFTA and Shengen. They are also committed to adopting much EU law even though they have less say than we do in drafting it. South Korea is possibly a better example, sandwiched between Japan and China (read EU and USA). Can we survive if we left? Of course. Whether it would be better for us is the decision we will soon have to make.
