Wonder how many on here were at the last game at Eastville, Can you remember how you felt on the day and after ? I remember feeling numb as the final whistle was blown, i remember looking round the ground inside and out and thinking what a state it had become it was so sad to see such terrible crowd, i am sure if it had been nowadays it would have been packed to the rafters but they were the dark days of hooliganism etc which had a profound effect as well as everything else surrounding the club at the time. Sorry to bring the mood down but we have all been far too happy on here lately and it's not normal ! UTG.

I was there.
I remember feeling sorry for Ron Green when he let in a soft goal. My dad was quiet though, an old Tote Ender himself.

It was really depressing as I recall. Atmosphere completely flat. The stadium was falling apart and had never recovered from the loss of the South Stand.
The crowd was tiny considering the importance of the game. Maybe people didn't believe it really was the last game ever to be played there?
Even more depressing when we went to Twerton which was a real shock - an average/ poor non league ground.
Did however come to love it there. A great atmosphere and you knew that the big clubs (Sunderland readily comes to mind) we played hated it.
Can't say I've ever truly warmed to the Mem - just doesn't seem like ours tbh.
Maybe good news is around the corner - we can but hope?

Total disbelief that we were about to be homeless. Guess everyone underestimated how ruthless Ian Stevens could be and the Stadium Company. BB told me at the time that the rent that the stadium company wanted on the new lease, was the equivalent to paying the interest on a £3 million overdraft.

Eastville and especially the Tote End - IS Rovers.
Remember the days well but the last day was like a death of a very good friend.
We should name one of the ends at UWE "Tote End II" We will be there you know..........

BB told me at the time that the rent that the stadium company wanted on the new lease, was the equivalent to paying the interest on a £3 million overdraft. BB had no input on the decision which was purely that of Denis and Geoff Dunford who had decided that it was financial sense to reduce outgoings to the minimum (austerity it is called now) - the Club owed the stadium company for back rent etc and with small crowds it was considered the Club could not survive at Eastville.

The Tote end at Eastville will always be my favourite terrace and nowhere can be bettered even in these new multi million pound plastic palaces we had some good rucks there but nobody ever took the tote end although there were a few very good tries at it also other teams have lost their terrace ends but not many have lost them to shopping centres

He told me this when misters Bradshaw & Flook took control.

Best memories of Eastville where playing Man Utd in the league cup with messrs Charlton Best law etc , also the Watney cup and then there were the games against that smelly lot across the river I remember the on game all the tote end stood on the steps leading onto the back of the Tote the Tote was nearly empty and the rest of the ground was quite full , then as the players came out all the tote end came up over the top scarves aloft singing Irene a great show to be part of , and also the great Harold stand

I remember a load of us piling into the back of my old mans van when I was a nipper and watching Man Utd play at Eastville.
Utd's fans were one of the most notorious groups of hooligans at the time and they were hoarded into a purpose built 'cage' at the Muller Road end. One of the lads that travelled with us took a big bunch of bananas to throw into the cage.

The last game at Eastville was not the league game against Chesterfield on 26/04/1986.
There was a reserve game played on Saturday 3rd May 1986 against Watford. I have an original program in "mint" condition.
David Mehew and Steve Yates played for us, Steve Sherwood, Tim Sherwood, Wilf Rostron and Nigel Callahan played for Watford.

Apart from my 1st ever game I was never a Tote Ender,my memories of the last game there were pretty miserable. A measly 3000+ crowd to watch a boring 1-1 draw. I was surprised at the crowd number as it was pretty well known it would be our last match at Eastville and I thought the fans would turn out to give the old place a good send off.Again I expected the team to respond to the situation and put in a great showing, which they didn't,so all in all it was just a sad afternoon. Some good memories though.
