I finally met young Wael today, seems a decent young man to me albeit a bloody tad naive when we discussed some of his ideas............

i see your point but safe standing was brought up during the planning stages and flatly turned down. the project is good to go on all aspects now , do you really want to jeopardize the whole stadium off the back of "i prefer to stand up" its not a simple case of not putting seats in and just putting in a few rails. the second we resubmit planning permission you can fully expect to see trash back running under another flag and at least another 18 months worth of appeals and judicial reviews. Times they are a-changing though, on and off the field both at our club and at many others...and also at the FA and the other governing bodies...someone has to be the first and suddenly we're the lower league team with ambition and the financial clout to back it up. The club gets the right people in the right role to speak with the right people in the right organisations and suddenly we're the first club in England building the first new stadium to incorporate safe standing. If we can't get agreement, just put in seats, but (to quote from another thread I posted in) let's ask a hundred gasheads how many would prefer to stand at the UWE and what percentage do you think...? 25%? 50%? 75%+? well if you asked 100 rovers fans from the dribuild stand 100% would ask for seats. but personaly i think about 90% of gasheads will be more than happy with a all seated stadium.
