Not sure if anyone has noticed this but there are 2 interesting games tonight, Rovers v Wimbledon and Accrington v Portsmouth, the 4 teams currently in the play off positions. Could this be a dress rehearsal for the end of the season?

Could this be a dress rehearsal for the end of the season? Win tonight and were only 6 points off automatic promotion. Will Oxford or Plymouth drop those points? Doubtful, so right now I'd take Wimbledon in the play-offs.

Look at us under Hollaway!

I feel the race for 3rd is still wide open.

Rovers 9 Pompey 7 accrington 5 Plymouth 4 We have come through our tough period of games yet we are sitting nicely in the table and effectivley in a mini league for 3rd. Yes there are tough games left but there are no run of fixtures like we have just come through. I look at our remaining fixtures and am literally licking my lips. We have a fantastic chance of an automatic place, especially if we win our next 2 home games. Plymouth have Brunt out for the season and Ruben Reid is off the boil. Accrington have a hell of a month coming up on what is a very small squad and playing twice a week for the last month or so. I believe it will come down to us and pompey on the last day for 3rd place. I know which game id rather have if it comes down to that scenario. UTG

Plymouth and Oxford are level on points so how can 2nd not also be reachable?

Whilst there is a real possibility of getting into the top three, it could also go the opposite way and we could end up down in 14th. (Where Exeter currently are and still only five points off the play offs).
All we can do is take one game at a time and hope those around us slip up. I guess an Accrington v Portsmouth draw would be the best result tonight if we can get a win and gain two points on both. You even want to see Daggers beat Carlisle. The sooner some of the chasing teams fall away the better!

The change from 2pts to 3pts for a win, allied to the play-off system, has been a fantastic change for the better in football.

Personally, I think we will make it to 85 points with our remaining fixtures.

Yes I would say Oxfords run in is slightly easier than ours but they also have a trip to Wembley which could affect their league form. We still play a few play off chasing teams but all at home, apart from Carlisle, which I think other than Northampton away, will be our hardest remaining game.

Plymouth's next two fixtures look tough one's given Luton are just hitting form, and apart from Morecambe all of their away games look like games where they'll struggle to win?
Accrington v Plymouth Plymouth v Luton Morecambe v Plymouth Plymouth v York Exeter v Plymouth Plymouth v Wimbledon Portsmouth v Plymouth Leyton Orient v Plymouth Plymouth v Dag & Red Cambridge v Plymouth Plymouth v Hartlepool
Accrington's next 5 home games are all against promotion/Play off contneders
Accrington v Portsmouth Accrington v Plymouth Accrington v Wycombe Accrington v Leyton Orient Accrington v Cambridge

Typical Rovers would be beating Norhampton away and then loosing to Yeovil the following week!

If you look at our games in April and May, it could be that none of them will have anything to play for by the time we actually meet.
Northampton may have the Championship to still aim for but are likely to be up by then, the others (Crawley, Yeovil, Stevenage and possibly Exeter) may have settled for mid table while York and Dagenham are possibly going to have been relegated by the end of April.
Having nothing to play for works both ways though.

The change from 2pts to 3pts for a win, allied to the play-off system, has been a fantastic change for the better in football. probably the only positive change in recent years , other than perhaps the refs tin of spray which is excellent I personally don't want tv technology for decisions the ref gets the same amount right and wrong for every team over the season and this will just delay things and give the pundits more to talk about
perhaps at world cup finals level it might be worth looking at but not in the ordinary leagues - well that's my five penneth worth anyway
